Ok I made the thread title a little more dramatic than needed but I felt I needed to get a point across and I really wanted to hear from others. And I've been reading what I've been thinking for some time now. Miles is certainly a LES excitable person. But it comes to a point where I think it is not encouraging to our players, staff, and fans. Not only that I think it hurts those groups. What is your take on Miles and his "boredness" ?
I don't know about boredness, but I just had a conversation this morning about the need for someone to challenge the players. I see the attitude trending toward the Miami teams a few years back when they expected to win by just showing up, and celebrating every decent play like they are something special when its really just part of their job. I don't like it.
I don't see Les as being bored - more like a deep thinker. As some have pointed out, this is a team that is seeking an identity and perhaps Les, too, is just watching, thinking, evaluating and looking for what works. Besides that, he's got someone in his ear over that headset throughout the game - he could be just listening to the chatter and taking it all in. I don't see him as bored or zombie-like. I'm sure there's more pressure on him than before, but I think he is equal to the task before him. I do remember a couple of years ago he did seem more animated on the sideline - not sure why he's "quieter" this year. :milesmic:
I think Les gets a team to peak for the big games. You can't peak for every team. He won't get really excited about USL either, he'll just do his business.
People have always complained that he doesn't show enough emotion on the sidelines. This year is no different than previous years. However, when push comes to shove and the game is really on the line he definitely shows a different demeanor.
I think this mindset is something of a problem. If all we worry about are big games and only worry how we play in big games and only see our head coach "in the game" for big games then I think there is a big problem. We should be treating every game as our big game. Otherwise we are not helping our potential in my opinion.
You ain't playing in the game. I don't care if Les doesn't inspire you personally. I want Les to coach football not rant like Bobby Knight. Nobody said anything about "all we worry about are big games". I said that the team needs to be physically and emotionally peaking at those games. If you imagine that a coach can hold a team at the highest emotional peak for each and every game, you haven't watched much football.
