The thing that really stands out in my mind is both Peach Bowls Miles faced a seemingly hot 9 win team, and LSU was the underdog, and not only did Miles win, but he blew both opponents out for a combined score of 78-6. Pushing LSU record to 7-1 all-time in the Georgia Dome.
Well, there have to fifty people on this board (who have not come forward yet) who would point out that none of these other coaches were able to coach Nick Saban's players . . . Oh wait, Nick Saban was. Well, Les Miles can't recruit! I mean we might be judged by the recruiting services to only have a class in the Top Two in the nation. And the defense cannot stop anyone! Plus the offense is terrible! We will never have a quarterback! Not even a freshman it might take a season to develop. Face it we have to fire Les Miles now! We could get Bill Cowher! Or maybe they will finally clone Lombardi!
LSU coach Les Miles reacts at the end of a 38-3 win over Georgia Tech after the Chick-fil-A Bowl NCAA college football game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008.
We can update Saban to: 2-3 in last five bowl games 2002 - lost Cotton to Texas, 20-35 2003 - won Sugar over Oklahoma, 21-14 2004 - lost Capitol One to Iowa, 25-30 2007 - won Independence over Colorado, 30-24 2008 - lost Sugar to Utah, 31-17
Not to mention Ohio State is the only team to score in the 2nd half against LSU under Miles in bowl games. Pitched shutouts against Miami, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech. Way to not let down.
Congratulations on a big win! Yikes, that was ugly...what I got to see of it anyway. Looks like you've found your next quarterback. This will be a great springboard into next year. Enjoy it! You earned it.
