Tiger Sports Digest is reporting Wes Luquette has committed to play baseball for LSU. During summer ball he hit .307 which included two homers and 20 RBIs. Guess he will not be playing football. At least there was no mention of it in the story.
He's evidentally a great athlete and a catcher with a strong arm. Tulane and UNC were after him hard.
He's a great athlete from Newman. Led the football team to the State Quarterfinals last season and accounted for over 2400 yards of offense and 37 touchdowns as QB. Miles told him if he was 6'2, he would've offered him a scholly (he's only 6'0). Sounds like he'll be a tremendous asset at catcher, though.
I saw him play QB and he looked good. Didn't really notice his height at the time, but they play in a smaller classification where there aren't huge lineman so comparably he didn't look short. He has a strong arm and I expect his throw to second base to be an asset. However, I think he will have to wait his turn to start if he remains at catcher. We have a superior catcher in place that is a sophomore right?
