Was watching NFL Network and seen Les Miles at the Senior Bowl practices. They did a short interview with him. He said that the Senior Bowl was a great tradition for the NFL to evaluate the new talent. He also said that he was just a "curious passer-byer". Anybody have any ideas as to why Les would attend the Senior Bowl practices?
Thats just the way he decribe himself. Don't know why he would be in Mobile. Maybe to promote Dorsey? Or maybe looking for a DC?? Any ideas?
just a stab in the dark, but could it possibly have something to do with the fact that 4-5 young men he has coached for 3 years are there and he wanted to lend them support?
Maybe, just maybe he wanted to see how his boys were doing. I mean, they did just when him a National Title. This gives him a chance to see how they do showing off their stuff to the pros. Also, he coached in the NFL some years ago, so I'm sure he still has friends in the coaching ranks and this is a great way to catch up with them. Other than, I wouldn't come anywhere close to reading into it that he's putting his name out for NFL coaching gigs (if that's what you were getting at in the first place, which personally, I think you were).
I read somewhere that while CLM was down there he collected several business cards from coaches looking for jobs. We do have a DC job, or Special Teams Coord spot open. So, IMO, he was doing a little bit of everything in Mobile, AL. :crystal::champs::crystal::champs::crystal:
LSU recruits the Mobile area heavily. It is closer to BR than to Tuscaloosa. All the high-school football talent in the area go to the Senior Bowl and Miles is a superstar this championship season who is getting out there to influence next year's recruits and coaches.
Thats more along the lines of my thinking. In no way was I implying that he was throwing his name in the NFL coaching hat. Hell, he just had the chance to return to his alma mater and turned it down. Les will be here for a long time.
Tons of coaches go to see their former players and I would not be surprised if he was stopping by a few high schools for future recruits. Lots of business is done this week behind the scenes. Mobile to BR and Ttown is the same distance, fwiw.
He probably had an in-home visit with 5 Star WLB Mark Barron (FSU verbal) while he was there. Barron is scheduled for an official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.
