LSU is my adopted "other" team. Still, as an outsider looking in, who loves watching college football, the offensive display against the Gators was quite painful to watch.

I hope you guys get it figured out... sooner than later.

The bye week comes at a good time. They have time to make major changes if they are going to.

you have to evaluate stats, not just get bent out of shape because it sounds bad. lsu was #5 in total O in the SEC last season but ended up 3-5. i'll prefer last in SEC in total O if the record is better.

the real question is how would the LSU coaches perform with an experienced QB? did well with flynn and even JR. how do other coaching staffs perform with inexperienced QBs?---i think its the rare staff that would not be having the same problems. USC was better with Sanchez. UGA was better with Stafford. What happened to Oklahoma when bradford went out? How much better is VaTech with taylor this year as opposed to two years ago?

this is a simplistic argument, but it does all go back to losing perilloux if this team had him (or any other talented player with 2+ yrs experience) the O would much better and perhaps amazing. the team would lose him after this year and would start a redshirt Jr Lee and not drop so much.

as long as clm can keep the wheels from falling off at the worst LSU will be back to looking like a top 5-10 team in a year.

Man, this is so over-used. I promise you our offensive woes aren't because Crowton has forgotten how to be a OC.

I do agree that his strength is not developing QBs, but people use to say the same thing about Jimbo Fisher.

his 1st year, he said he wasn't going to completely install his offense.
    so '07 wasn't Crowton's system(by his own admission).

said we were going to keep a lot of what was here, and slowly convert over to "his" system.

well, now we're in "his" system.

    ain't it lovely?

"I pay good money for these tickets so I can boo if I want to!". Another battle cry of the jackass brigade. Paying money does not entitle you to act in a manner which makes the performance of the team you support MORE DIFFICULT.

Lee screwed the pooch last year.....so what. I think he would probably be playing better this year....so we would have made progress offensively. Instead we are going through the whole learning process again. And I have to agree with what Red posted on one of these threads.....Lee is most likely gone after this season. If I were his "advisor" I would sure as hell tell him to transfer. They refuse to play him here despite a qb in front of him that won't let go of the ball even on 4th down plays and 2 pt. conversions...? And I'm not ragging on Jefferson either. I think he's doing pretty good for the youngest qb in the SEC. But Lee could help take some of the pressure off in my opinion.

So, anyway, the LSU fans will have to endure even less depth at the qb position in the future. That's how the universe punishes the fanbase......how's that for clarity?

Anybody remember LSU fans booing the team fresh of a national championship in the Oregon State game? I do and I remember the announcers commenting on it. Way to show some class in times of adversity, eh?

No, the fans are not always wrong. But Miles is qualified. The fans are not. Why do you not trust him? He corrected the mistake as soon as possible. It would not have been better to cut them loose in mid season. See Tuberville for that move.....how did that work out? Miles will make mistakes....so what? So does everyone....let him correct the mistakes. Our job is to sit in the stands and yell.

What is it, we demand perfection now? I hate to break it to everyone but then you are going to be disappointed. The SEC is a tough conference and we have no Tebow....we don't even have a Matt Flynn or Matt Mauck. We have kids in charge of the offense and it shows.....it's not their fault.....they are doing the best they can so lighten up.

I haven't read the entire thread, but this post caught my eye because it touches on my thoughts. I would add that I think a lot of the issues fall on JJ and his looking confused when he calls audibles. Is the kid watching the films and seeing the right defensive packages. It almost looks like he and the OL are not in sync with each other. He continually looks lost looking to the sidelines for what he should do. I just wonder if he is confusing the OL with his audible calls, making them not on the same page as him.

red, i have nothing against you, i hope you know that, but miles' "success" isn't hard to figure out. hell, i think LSU was very fortunate to win the NC we won in 2007. that LSU team wasn't the best in the country, but we got fortunate to get to the NC game. i was in a coma at the time so this is looking at it purely from an historical perspective. the bowl games? well we beat a VERY overrated and dejected miami team. same thing with a very overrated ND team. had many weeks to prepare for a one-dimensional GT team, and then the title game. say what you will about tOSU. i'm conceding any knowledge of that season since i didn't really see the tail-end of it.

if you have top-tier talent, you usually win the majority of your games if your staff is at least competent. which, CLM is. but i don't think he's comfortable at the highest level of NCAA football. he may be in over his head here. i really don't know, and couldn't care any less as long as we win. but there is the rub. look at 2008 and then look at 2009 thus far. we were lucky to win at washington, and really probably should have lost at Mississippi state. this team looks LESS impressive than the 2008 team in a LOT of areas. seriously. LSU is hard to watch. i stopped watching the LSU and Florida game in the second half because the product that LSU is putting on the field is hogwash. if i were paying huge bucks for season tickets, i'd be more than a little pissed off. rightfully so. i can go watch more entertaining high school games. if people don't see that, then i don't know what to say.

sometimes winning is all that matters, but in our case, i really think LSU's luck is about to run out. i sure as hell hope that i am wrong, but i honestly don't see this season getting much better. :)

and i really am usually a glass-half-full type, too. so start questioning my fandom and tell me to go support ______ team. i still bleed purple and gold, but this is hard to watch. some of those "pathetic" teams we had in the 90s were more fundamentally sound than our last two teams so far.

its JS Racing not problem... just saying.

Any coach worth a dahm will evaluate off season performance and play the best player that gives the team the best shot at winning thus increasing his own salary and tenure. or at least that is how it is supposed to work, regardless of fan booing.

sometimes true. not always, unfortunately life is not always fair so what goes around doesnt always come around, justice isnt always served. Although I like to think it is more than not. We both hope it is, in theory I want to agree with you here, in reality it isnt always so.

paying for a seat does not give anyone the right to act like an ass, true. it does however give them the right to NOT buy a seat if they choose to do so. Now Tiger Stadium is not anywhere near close to having that problem, just saying as far as fan bases being punished? I dont quite follow this reasoning. It's as if you are saying So9me football god is in charge of things and because they didnt let Lee play this year, we have to suffer as fans. Like some sort of weird destiny. Am I right is that what you mean?

More than likely the choice to play JJ is more due to Miles choice of the boy before the season started. maybe it pans out maybe it doesn't. Would Lee play better? maybe maybe not would you be saying this is JJ's line blocked and we had no iissues? probably not. Favorite player is the back up QB when the offense is struggling.

here is my take. Les said last year JJ was an amazing athlete but wasnt ready to play. I guess this year he thinks he is and he is enough better on the practice field to start ahead of Lee. Its a coaching choice. Now I am sure Miles hopes it works out for the best. Maybe he will try Lee. I'd like to see what he can do on a series or two myself.
Maybe JJ looks 5 times better than Lee in practice. who knows? if he did you can bet Miles wouldnt throw Lee under the bus, just to explain to a bunch of internet arm chairs why JJ is starting.

I think last year is last year, Miles said in the offseason and almost right up until game one that he would play whoever looked best and the thing was open. If we cant take the coach for what he says what have we got?
JJ has some issues, but 90% of his problems start and end with a under performing O line. There have been other QB's as young as JJ with a good line in front they look pretty capable. wheter Lee could take some pressure off or not remains to be seen. maybe they will give him some play time, just to test the waters. maybe if he doesnt start throwing INT's he is good to go, let him start a game then.
but if he screws the pooch again, I'd say bench him quick, things could get worse in a hurry. No offense is better than an O ffense that gives points away. AS far as you being his advisor, well I think Lee's advisor is doing OK. glad you arent his advisor. He is waiting his turn, his chance to show what he has. In the SEC ANY QB is one hit away from the back up starting. Look @Tebow. I submit to you that LEE IS playing by planning, keeping his head in the game, being ready and studying the play book. Being a back up @ LSU beats starting @ slippery rock U in afganistan.

thats not the fans being punished by the "universe" or some omnipotent football God that's the result of not recruiting enough QB's on either side of Perriloux. We had all our eggs in Perriloux's basket.

    No i dont remember that

    [/QUOTE]

Not perfection, just play up to the potential we know the talent is capable of. I would imagine Miles is like me he probably sets his goals to win every time. In fact ive heard him say that. why not? why think of defeat? its counter productive. Attitude. Geaux in to a game Expecting to win no matter what!
BTW they are all kids even the SR's.

take care and have a nice day!
