As far as firing a coach with an 80% winning record...what about McClendon? We did that and were cursed for a while. Not even one of our golden boys (Stovall) could overcome that.

    (Just an interjection, carry on)

Crowton had a 5th yr. sr. QB his first year here, Matt Flynn.

Then we were supposed to have Perrilloux for 2 years, but he was thrown off the team. Is it Crowton's fault that Saban didn't sign a QB the year before Perrilloux, nor Miles the year after Perrilloux, and with RP gone, we then had 3 classes with no QB? That's not Crowton's fault, that's Saban and Miles.

Now some redshirt frosh are ready to play QB, and some aren't. Lee and Jefferson have both struggled. That is partially Crowton's fault, as I think he's the QB coach, but we don't know what is on Gary and what is on the kids.

You can't just say its all on Crowton, there are some extenuating circumstances going on there that are not his fault at all.

it could have been a lot worse against the #1 team. i know thats not saying much but there is reason to think there will be success against lesser teams and even improvement.

the real thing to look for is fight. it will be over when they stop playing for 4 qtrs and start bitching all the time on the field.

I have enjoyed the passion that Red and TC are displaying.

My football coaching experience is pretty impressive.. (Asst. HC for elememtary school boys for 4 years and HC for a 6yr old flag team) and the first problem I see starts with the O-Line. They are not holding their blocks long enough for a run or pass play to properly develop. When we play a fast defense that is really exposed.

I didn't agree with the playcalling for the last few weeks. We constantly hear how we are going to run the ball. After the 2nd offensive series they abandon that philosophy. I was surprised to not see RS in the game lined up as a RB or flanker. Heck line him up as QB and have him take off like we did with RP. We have to good RB's, along with TH and RS, we should be running the crap out of he ball. A good OC doesn't have 1 gimick offense he masters. He need to be able to evaluate the talent he has and use the talents of his players accordingly. Our QB skill set is not strong enough to run a T formation or single wing, but some real simple "Wild Tiger" with motion from TH would work. Heck, have 1 play with a direct snap to TH or line him up in the shotgun and take off.

Last season was last season, but if I was grading Crowton this season I would give him a D. The 2nd half of the FLA game was borderline embarrasing.

To add to the debate on 13-3 being a blow out, I agree that we were blown out. Just because we lost by 10, dosn't mean it was a close game. Our defense played good, but we were completely dominated by their defense for 3 quarters.

thats not true. after the second drive there were 12 rushes and 1 pass in the first half. it was abandoned in the last drive, but that was also one of the most successful drives

That is why I am one of the few on TF that is qualified to give an opinion! I am waiting for my season to end to turn in my resume to CLM. Just as you, I think he will be quite impressed with my extensive knowledge and experience!!

I will also do this  in our meeting, to remind him of our last NC season!
