She's been cartwheeling with wild abandon around the house all summer. I had repeatedly warned her about it, but she wasn't listening to dear old mom. So, she finally injured herself and her "natural consequence" was having to miss her first two pointe classes. As she said with all of her 11-year-old wisdom, "I've taken ballet for 8 years, working for the day that I would go on pointe, and now I hurt myself and can't do it." Next time, maybe she'll listen to dear old mom.
She's already got her shoes and the 15-year-old has a good pair now and one in reserve for when that one wears out. I learned my lesson last year about having to buy pointe shoes during an LSU game (mainly because of the ration of shit I was given on here...)
I don't know what "pointe" shoes are but glad you're prepared for the game this time. How are your mom and dad? Fournette would want to know.
Come on, @lsutiga, you don't know what pointe shoes are? Okay...I think in Louisiana, they may call them "toe shoes." They are the traditional looking ballet shoes with hard toes (that the girls dance on top of) with the ribbons that tie around their ankles. Now, I have two daughters in them (they cost about $120 a pair), and once they really learn to dance on them, they go through a pair about every month or so. That's why my older daughter has a new pair already purchased and ready to go for when her current pair is "dead." And don't even get me started on the drill team boots that my sophomore has--that will have to stay white and pristine through football season this year. I hope I don't have to buy another pair of them! Mom and Dad are fine, but they don't have phones, cable, or internet yet. I told them my door was open up here if they get weary of the recovery going on down in Watson.
My 22 year old called me the other day and said "Dad, why the hell didn't I listen to you"? I was like, well, because you were a kid and knew everything. Told you I knew how this was going to turn out. At least I got the satisfaction of him finally seeing the light. I'm sure it went out shortly after though.
