No my friend, my grandmother would cook the pot holders off of your hands and that ain't no joke. I've been at countless hunting camps that had the pantry stocked full of it and those old dudes would cook the apron off of anyone ...including @CajunlostinCali and his "shit just got real" Bottom line, flour and oil. That's it.
You're right. The jar evolved from people asking for it pre-made. So it is essentially homemade, put in a jar and sold. How they can't see that it's the same thing is beyond me. Savoies actually started in on jar roux in 1962. Kary's was a little later. See, you fools. H2O http://karysroux.com/shop/
Roux has no place in a jar, if you can't make it or have time to do it right, then you need to eat a hamburger.
Proper upbringing and all...Preach brother! It's Sunday and all this blasphemy got me feelin like I need a shower.
Bullshit. When I do make one I make a big one, never use it all so guess what I do with it? You guessed it, it goes in a jar or zip lock or Tupperware and into the freezer. You know, because it's flour and oil and will last forever. Same thing savoies or carys does.
If you want to argue lazy,or the silly sweat, love and tears foolishness I will listen. I will laugh at you but I will listen. If you are going to argue quality or taste then I'm going to tell you that you simply don't know what the hell you are talking about.
