CBSSports National NFL Insider Mike Freeman was on the local radio today talking about how all signs are pointing to the NFL planning to go heavy-handed on the Saints, making a big example out of them. he mad it sound pretty bad, but he also said it would basically be like Spygate all over again, and i didn't think that was that bad for the Patriots.

here's an article from him where he basically said the same thing:

he doesn't mention any Saints players facing suspension (fingers crossed)

The ONLY reason the media has knowledge of this is because the 'usually close to the vest' NFL RELEASED the information. Why, you may ask? Its because of the lawsuits brought on by former players.

The NFL's defense is going to be - 'Look, players in your own association are creating bounties to injure each other. The NFL can't be responsible for that.' It's a defense mechanism designed to shield the NFL from liability and it's SO transparent and pathetic.

Exactly. The NFL is full of bureaucrats, lawyers, politicians, all truly spineless and pathetic individuals.

Phuck the NFL. This is why I have always been and will always be a tiger first.

Roger Goodell will use this to further his cause and make the Saints out to look like bad guys because he is a media whore with this whole player safety bullsh!t. I call it bullsh!t because quarterbacks and wide receivers are the ones who are diagnosed with severe injuries later on in life regarding the brain, and the head. Offensive linemen and running backs take the biggest beating, the most abuse, and have a greater chance of getting injured, and injured badly. But all Goodell wants to do is protect the people who generate the most money in jersey sales and ticket sales. The Tom Bradys and Peyton Mannings of the world.

I'm sure the 1 man judge and jury will come down hard on the Saints as a way to further his agenda and make it look like he is strictly for player safety. Especially since that gang of players including Jamal Lewis and others are suing the NFL for not disclosing information on head injuries in the 90's and what not.

WWL had an NFL insider who's name I don't remember this morning. He thought the Loomis/Peyton apology statement yesterday actually earn them a bit of leniency, but speculated that Peyton will get a 6-game suspension.

I had 2 thoughts this morning; the first a rhetorical: Can you imagine the screaming we would be hearing right now if the Saints had actually won the Super Bowl this year?

Second: fast forward to September. The penalties have been handed down, and Drew Brees (having finally been signed -- yes, I still believe this happens this offseason) is under center. Will he spend the 2012 season dodging "payback" shots? For that matter, anyone in black and gold with the football in their hands? Not to mention any defender someone on an opposing offense gets a chance to blind-side. How bad will the on-field retaliation be?

After reading many of the quotes from players around the league regarding "bounties", it seems like it's business as usual that was finally exposed. I don't think the Saints players will be specificly targeted since this practice goes on in most if not all teams to some degree.

nola.com reports Payton has put his house in Dallas up for sale. Price tag, 3.995 mill. Sounds like a guy who is preparing to incur a sudden large expense.

and that is a "reduced price" of $3.995 million. when MLB All-Star Mark Teixeira left for the Yankees, he put it on the market for $5.750 million (that link is also to a photo gallery showing off the house, you have to wait a few seconds for it to load)

also, calling it a "house" doesn't do it justice. it's more like a fortress or a compound:

i'm pretty sure he sold the 6,814-square foot, $1.3 million dollar home his family lived in at 53 Preserve Ln, Mandeville, LA when they bought the $6 million fortress in Dallas... and I think he got a smaller place for him to stay at when he was in New Orleans

here are two photo galleries of it when his family lived there (i really like the theater room and the backyard):
