I think Derek Anderson was simply a better fit for the playmakers Arizona has on offense- he's got a big cannon for a arm while Leinart is more limited physically in how deep he can throw the ball. If you wanted to play a West Coast offense, then Leinart is the guy. But, if you know you have to make big plays and big throws, then Anderson is the guy. But, Leinart is stupid to air this out. At some point, he would have been given a second chance because Anderson is a turnover machine. When Anderson is good he can be pretty good. But, when he's bad, he's really, really bad. Don't worry. After the implosion of Jamarcus Russel and how much he cost the Raiders, a rookie pay scale is going to go into the next CBA. The only possible stumbling block is that money that would have gone to rookies goes to the veterans. If that happens, then both sides, the owners and players, will be in favor of it.
Well he's on the trade block now, see you l8r bro: Cardinals QB Leinart on the block - Scoop Du Jour - NFLĀ - Yahoo! Sports
After getting hit hard with those NCAA sanctions, SC was able to keep most of their players from jumping ship because those players felt that SC was their best choice to prepare them for the NFL. But, you look back at that championship SC teams where they were loaded with talent and college stars. Yet, they didn't make much of an impact on the NFL, did they? The Texans were widely ridiculed for picking Mario Williams as the number one draft pick over Reggie Bush. Yet, Williams is now a Pro Bowler while Bush is more of a expensive decoy. Lendale White was cut by Pete Carroll, his college coach who jumped ship before the sanctions hit SC. And, now Leinart has been cut by the Cardinals after he had been handed the starting job more than once but failed to keep it. The Cardinals couldn't even trade the guy for some fifth round pick; they just had to cut him.
