Announced today that she also has breast cancer. Damn. What a terrible year. The elitist golfing crowd has always hated Phil. There have been rumors for years about him behind the scenes. However, everyone that knows the dude likes him. Never understood it.
it's lessened a lot now, but a good 5-6 years ago, he carried himself in a very arrogant way. I truly don't think he meant that in a conceited way, but it looked like it and it turned a lot of fans off to him. But he's one of the most popular now (probably 2nd behind Tiger) and I certainly hope these problems get sorted out for him ASAP
yeah but have you ever seen a golfer as good to his fans as Phil? It seems like every time he is walking up a fairway, or to the green, or to the next hole he is always waving at his fans and acknowledging them in some way, i have never seen any golfer do that with the regularity that Phil does. He's definitely my favorite golfer, and my heart goes out to him, that must be devastating.
When I was working the International for CBS, I got to know some Tour caddies pretty well. The dislike for Phil was widespread and intense. I'm sure some of it was jealousy, but I heard enough from different sources to convince me that Phil's public and private personna weren't always the same.
