Young QB's struggle in this league. This has been discussed to death, and yet somehow people seem to think that because we're a few games into the season Lee is no longer young.

QB's don't typically made huge strides during the season. We're just doing to have to suck it up for the rest of the season, and hope Lee develops substantially this summer.

Lee has the potential to be a great QB - it just won't be at any point this season. It is what it is & there isn't much our coaches can do about it.

    Great post cparso!

Just today on the Fox NFL half time show, Bradshaw said he threw 24 ints his rookie year. Back then, that was 2 a game. We all know how he turned out.

I saw John Elway his entire career with the Broncos and there were times when I wondered if John was color blind.

There is something our coaches can do... don't put the football in a red shirt freshman's hands to make a play, in which, he has proved he cannot.

We have 5 running backs that can take it 100 yards a game if you give it to them. Our running game one of the best Ive seen. They just dont get the opportunity to perform on many occasions. I know we do run more than we throw (46 runs to 34 passes this past game), but, 13-34 this pass game in passing is unacceptable. try run the ball 21 more times... what would that have done? I say we win the game. We would not have thrown 4 INTs.

GC... Is not a genius if he cannot not see what is not working and adapt to a better game plan. crossing pattern routes for WRs to a redshirt freshman (especially Lee that probably cannot see over the offensive line) can be confusing. How many of these INTs over the middle could been avoided? If the ball is thrown down the field at least it's like a punt.

The players played their butts off. Offensive line and The defense. It's a shame the coaches cant see around their own arrogance and "genius" play calling, to just play a solid smash mouth football game.

I know Im not a coach and i know i dont know everything... just my thoughts on couple of things.

PS. A girl from New Iberia, on the plane today going home that doesnt know that much about football, can see that the passing is not working and that running would be much better... If only Gary could see past his own "offensive ingeniousness "

Why is everyone freakin out so bad? Yeah, the pick-6's are bad but in yesterday's game, only 2 of those picks were really his fault...

    Are you expecting Peyton Manning?

He's proven that he can do it - just no consistently.

It's hard enough to run with our passing game as is. If we completely give up on the pass our running game would look TERRIBLE.

So, we ran the ball 46 times & that's not many occassions?

Clearly one thing you don't understand is the benefit of balance on offense.

Oh gee, well if some uninformed girl thinks it then we should hire her instead of Crowton...

If you get a chance, watch the game with 3:25 left in the first half. That play defines Jarrett Lee.

One thing that needs to be realized before jumping down this kid's throat is the SEC isn't the conference to break in a red shirt freshman AND expect to compete for the conference while doing it.

And when your coach says "He gives us our best chance to win" that means he's seen enough in practice to make a better decision than most of the fans. It means the hot shot true freshman qb on the sidelines simply ain't ready. Trust me, if Jefferson really gave y'all a better chance to win Miles would probably recognize that before any of the fans.

The only knock I have against your staff would be HOW they handle Lee. They know the kid is an interception machine yet continue calling pass plays that are timing oriented which is an INT waiting to happen. Rather than calling higher percentages passes and running the ball more.

    Thoroughly agree with you CP.

BTW, didn't brother Eli Manning have a rather dismal introduction to the NFL his first THREE seasons? Eventually, his light turned on and he led his wild-card team to a championship during his fourth season.

After watching LSU football for over 55 years, there has been very few and far between LSU QBs ready to assume command under center WITH CONFIDENCE their second year in the system.

Understanding the circumstances of our LSU players is far more productive than coddling the few unreasonable naysayers who frequent this board.

:geaux: We have :crystal: :crystal: so should you who don't!

IMO Lee's biggest problem is he has no confidence right now. I think he's so afraid to throw a pick and it's obviously getting to him.

I compare it to a closer in baseball. Take Mitch Williams for example. When he gave up the HR to Joe Carter in '93 to lose the World Series, he became a head-case after that. With Lee, all these pick-sixes are in his head all the time im sure.

I think Lee has the tools to be a good QB, but until he has confidence in himself, those tools won't be realized. And let's hope Lee is more like Brad Lidge than MW. BL was a head case for a while after the Pujols homer, but we all know how he turned it around this year once he got confidence in himself again.
