    Suncoast...

The kid is a redshirt freshman, who happens to have the best start of any redshirt freshman @ LSU in the last 10 years. Almost 270 in his first start with a pair of TD's isn't good enough? Of course there will be a little room for improvement, but man give the kid a break.. He's gonna throw some int's, get used to it. Here's one QB guy referring to Lee and the challenges he faces...

Hmm.. seems like this Hodson guy has been there and knows what he's talkin about.

This Mauck guy may have a clue too. But na.. He's just full of "Go Team Go" hot air too I bet.

Ya know what, I'd dare say that Flynn guy would agree with both of these. But hey, what would that cheese-head know.. right?

My point is, JL is a RS Freshman, just getting settled in, and will make a few mistakes, maybe more than a few.. Apparently Mauck and Hodson agree with that. You can be impatient and critique his play till you're blue in the face, but it's not going to change anything. I'm sorry that watching this kid develop into a very good QB is really bothering you, but it's the way it goes. Of course, since you watch football with such a "critical eye", you should know that.

I don't understand why everyone is trying to set Suncoast straight. It's clear to me that he is just yanking y'alls chain. I mean, I really don't think that anyone can be so willfully stupid...

I do think our pass defense needs to improve or we will be in a world of hurt.

But this point is about Jarrett Lee.

If the time comes when we are down 21 points in the second half, it may be time for him to gamble. But that time hasn't come yet. And the only reason we were behind by 10 in Auburn is because he made a horrible play.

Stay with me StaceyO, I'll talk you thru this.

Overall, our pass had better tighten up. But this should not distract JL. He needs to take the ball and hand it off right, hand it off left, and hand it off up the middle. If he does that well, Lafell and Byrd and Dickson and Toliver and will all get open downfield.

Lee is in a great situation, but plenty of QB's would not be having as much success as he is in the same situation.

Wow. "Willfully stupid". All for wanting a QB to play within himself on a team surrounded with talent.

To everyone: I am not trying to yank anyones chain. I know my opinions are outside of the mainstream. I apologize to anyone I have offended. I try to answer most of the posts to explain how I arrived at my opinions. Some I may be able to convince, others I surely won't. But I am not just trying to be obstinate.

I am sorry you think that I am stupid CC. Unfortunately for me, you are not the only here that thinks so. :nope: For all that its worth, I can assure you that I am not. I am educated. I have been around the world. I am not a fool.

Anyway, best of luck to you in the future. Geaux Tigers.

Tommy Hodson, Matt Mauck, Matt Flynn, all know infinitely more about being a QB at LSU than I, or probably any poster here. So I'll defer to their opinions.

I think the future for JL is bright. He is in a good situation. He has played well at times, not so well at others. Heres to hoping that he is on his way to being the next great QB at LSU. :geaux:

I rewatched the game the other night and some of you might remember this but during one of LSU's TD drives one of the sports broadcasters starts talking about Lee. This isn't word for word but close:

"You know who Lee looks like? I know you're going to be surprised when I say the name."
    "Uh oh. Who?"
"The way Lee passes the ball reminds me of Bret Farve. See how he just whips the ball with his arm. His feet aren't even planted and he just slings it."
"Whoa. That really is high praise for Lee."
"Yeah, I know but there's just something about how this kid throws the ball. He's going to be good."

How dare a 19 year old kid who's now played ALMOST 8 Qtr's of football still make mistakes!!! Burn him! Burn Him, I say!

Here's a handful of stats for you.

Matthew Stafford in his SO season (basically where Lee is at now) with MORE playing time / exp. than Lee. These were his stats for the first 4 games he played in.

    3 INTS / 137.35 QB rating.

For the season Stafford had a 55.7% comp. 7.3 yards per attempt.

Jarrett Lee's stats through the first 4 games of the season. 3 INTS / 146.51 QB rating. 58.4% passing. 8.4 yards per attempt.

Remember, this is AFTER Stafford played in 13 games his freshman season.

So right now Jarrett Lee is playing better than Matthew Stafford (with 13 games of experience).

How could anyone ask for more than what Jarrett Lee is currently doing?
