Rusell tried to single-handedly give away the Florida game and was pulled. Lee hasn't come close to that level of poor play. Even against GA, he still accounted for 3 TDs and 31 points.
its just getting ridiculous: Tulane scored its only touchdown on a 43-yard interception return by Travis Burks in the fourth quarter. It was the fifth time this season an opponent has scored on an interception of LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee, including two by Georgia last Saturday. unreal, and again-- we start every game down 7 points because this is just going to happen--- 99 yards against tulane? sorry jarett, but im not a fan---
alas someone who gets it. dude is a freshman and is pretty damn good for a kid who is just a freshman. Anyone watch ND a lot? Remember Clausen last year how bad? Did all the same stuff Lee is doing -- telegraphing, being afraid to get hit, etc... Kid worked on it in the offseason and is a pretty damn fine QB to the tune of 18 TDs and 9 INTs. it's easy to blame the QB for any little problem that goes wrong in the offense and in a lot of these cases, you all are right that it is lee's fault. But the LSU offense has scored 25 or more points in 6 out of the 8 games and 20 or more in every game. A lot of teams with great QBs can not say that.
50% of Lees interceptions are returned for touchdowns. 50 Percent. I've seen a lot of freshman quarterbacks, and yes they make mistakes. But they are also expected to learn from them. At this point in the season, Lee should have learned his lesson about throwing into coverage. But he has not. He has thrown 12 TD passes for the Tigers and 5 for our opponents! Throwing the ball away and having to punt is disapointing, but throwing a short pass interception that can be run back for a TD is irresponsible behaviour for a quarterback. Lee is all we have thanks to The Great Ryan Perrilloux. But any more of these pick sixes and he had better start bulking up to play linebacker or tight end . . . he has little future at quarterback.
as a lee apologist this is the one thing that cannot be explained away. he evidently was able to throw into coverage at the hs level and get away with it.
Not to mention all the other INT's that led to TD's or points for the other team. Russell as a freshman didn't have the talent we have on this team. Well except the D...at least. :rolleye33: The most INT's he threw in a full season was 9. Russell wasn't all that bad in his freshman year considering his comeback performances against Oregon State, Troy, and Iowa. Yes, the UF game was pretty rough, but we ended up winning it anyways. Take out that game and he has 9 TD's and 2 INT's in his first year playing with a couple comeback victories.
