LeBron James files application for No. 6 jersey for the 2010-11 season | cleveland.com

Of course we remember the silly thing about retiring Jordan's #23 permanently at the NBA level (which is of course a total joke).

So he takes the number of the great Bill Russell in the process. A man who won almost twice as many championships (11) than MJ (6) and is one of the best players of all time.

    Nice going LeBron.

Way to respect the sport. I am sure Bill is impressed.

6 was also the number of the great Julius Erving who only won one title

Well obviously these guys have agents in their ears telling them how if they change numbers they will get a bump in jersey sales and more money in their pockets. They then concoct a BS story about why they're doing it so it doesn't look like a cash grab. This will become more and more common in the NBA.

Just read through some archives. you'll find countless others. Every coach in every professional sport and every GM in every sports organization deserves to be fired I've heard.
