Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? I don't really understand this argument and I've heard it in a couple of places. How would this work? He would agree to play for the knicks, the word would get out, the MSG stock would price in the effect of him playing there and he would buy stock in MSG which is now a good investment because he's part of the company even though this will have been priced into the stock. Also, MSG is a huge corporation from what I can tell. He will only affect a small portion of it. I know a lot of people are pushing this angle but I don't think it really holds any water. It's a great gimmick that should push to him but the real life application doesn't make any sense. My guess is Chicago or Olympiakos
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? That's the only detraction from going there and it could factor into his decision. Being as immature as he is, I would not put it past him. And agree with Clair, I at times don't know if he really wants to win.
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? So you can't see him going to the Knicks or Nets then. Although you can sign 2 max contract players and one mid-level exception, so you could be looking at Wade/Lebron/Joe Johnson or Bosh/Lebron/Joe Johnson. So theoretically, the Billionaire Russian who now owns the Nets and has Lebron's best friend Jay-Z (minority ownership) could have the following lineup in 2010/2011: PG Devin Harris (assists) SG Joe Johnson (points) SF LeBron James (assists, points, rebounds, defense) PF Chris Bosh (points, rebounds, defense) C Brook Lopez (rebounds, blocks, defense) Backups F Chris Douglas-Roberts G Courtney Lee PF/C Yi Jianlian G/F Terrence Williams (Add in a defensive specialist/3 point specialist) Does that win an NBA championship? Not sure, but it will definitely contend for one in it's first season of being together.
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? I don't follow the NBA like i used to anymore, but why would anyone want Calipari as their coach??? He didn't do much as a NBA coach before, so why the interest? Even with all the good/great teams he's had in college, he still hasn't won a championship.
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? His best shot is in Cleveland only if they get a new coach. Mike Brown consistently shows that he does not have the ability to coach a team past adversity in the playoffs. They won on talent throughout the season but veteran teams step up in the playoffs like the 3-peat Lakers, Celtics and Spurs of this decade. They don't realize that they could add all the all-stars they want but the problem is with the coach. <end rant>
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? Quite possibly, but Bosh isnt that guy who is going to put you over the top. I just dont see that happening. I like the potential lineups you posted. Is Harris good enough to put Lebron over the top, thats the question you have to ask with each player. Derek Rose is that guy.
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? Well, with Mark Cuban's recent tampering fines because he opened his mouth, (screw you david stern, you f'n nazi) i am going with Dallas. Dirk and Lebron baby championships a comin!!
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? I can't see Joe Johnson settling for the mid-level exception.
Re: Your prediction for the Lebron James sweepstakes? Another example of the NBA trying to control everything. Stern goes and fines Kerr for mentioning Lebron as well. So you mention Lebron while he is a free agent and you get fined because Stern wants him to stay in Cleveland. And he wonders why NBA fans are growing weary over the last few years.:dis:
