I don't know why anyone thinks that Sarah Palin stands a chance against Obama. She was good for fundraising, but ultimately she single-handedly doomed McCain's campaign. Now people think that making her the big draw on the ticket is going to be successful? It will make Reagan/Dukaikis look like a nailbiter. It's a lot like American Idol and Top 40 Pop Radio. Substance matters very little. Playing on people's emotions and offering platitudes plus getting as much money as you can to bombard the airwaves with your name in order to saturate the collective conscious of the voting public is how Presidents get elected. It's more likely that no one that has been mentioned on this thread will get the GOP nomination although I will submit Tim Pawlenty as my GOP darkhorse.
Because he isnt a tow the line conservative, he understands that every issue is different and has displayed as much in his decision making. I disagree with him on the Everglades land deal and that hits close to home because my dad has done a lot of the financial and legal work on the states behalf regarding that deal. But overall I like Crist and the democrats arent really offering anything in the race that resembles a viable opponent.
imo, mccain doomed the mccain campaign by picking palin. if he wanted a female on his ticket, there were other republican women out there with more experience and brains and would have been better for the ticket.
Well a good thing could happen in November. It appears the Democrats will lose many positions for the same reason the Republicans lost many positions in the previous cycle...they don't listen to the voters...they lie...they suck...and they're only concerned with appeasing a small group of supporters. It appears neither party will dominate after these elections. Considering that neither party currently has the answers, a balance of power will accomplish little which is far better than the current path of going backwards. Look at Louisiana. We had two Senators from the same party for a century and accomplished nothing. We changed and went with one from each party and although we may not have seen great results, it's better than it was. Sometimes they unite (which is great) and sometimes they compete (which is even better) as they're not as comfortable and complacent as most of our previous Senators were. Obama could benefit (as did Clinton) with a shift in Congress. If the numbers stayed the same I believe the voters would run him out of town as he would have the ability to continue with his ideology and failed policies. If a balance of power prevents him from making more mistakes, he may survive a re-election as no other strong opponents have surfaced. If this occurs would Obama be able to control his ego or would his arrogance lead to poor judgment and comments ultimately leading to him losing a re-election bid? Only the magic teleprompter knows......
Exactly. He may have been the escape goat. I think barry was going to win this thing regardless of who the GOP put up there. 2012 is a different story so I hope they find a better choice this time around.
Sorry fellas, gotta disagree. I think McCain lost the independent vote when he signed on Palin. Hell alot of conservatives were lost also. I think the ONLY reason he chose that stupid skirt is because the Republicans thought they could cash in on the people who were pissed off that Hillary didn't get the Democratic nomination. Dumb move, but hey, at least it put Palin out there so we know how much of a fraud she is.
I'm not sure I would call her a fraud. I think she is anything but. She pretty much sticks to what she believes in and like it or not I think she shoots straight. I still don't think she is electable and not because of her policies but because she can be an air head.
the reason i say she is fraud is because she talks about morals and values while she was over there in alaska trying to get books censored, fired the police chief because he tried to get guns off the streets, she fired a public safety commissioner because he refused to fire a state trooper that was her sister's ex who just so happened to be in a brutal custody battle. Did i mention Todd Palin works for BP???? This woman is no different than any other politician who uses strong arm tactics to influence and dissuade detractors. And if she ever were elected, we would be able to walk from Grand Isle to Cuba from all the oil wells in the gulf.
