I don't think Rhoads is staying at Auburn. I think he is out. Go read the newspaper quotes I recently posted in the "DC Watch: Paul Rhoads" thread that you started in the Den.
you have to have the players, bubba. Spurrier had a fancy pants, pretty resume, but he's losing his bee-hind at SC. Leach's high-octane offense would run out of fuel . . . fast with Kodi Burns manning the ship. Auburn is a dead-end. Nick's getting all the grade-a talent in that state and LSU/Florida/UGA, etc... are all sucking the talent out of the bordering states. So now your task is to win with your system and with b-grade players. Won't happen. He'd get eaten alive. Ala Rich Rodriguez now, who had a similar resume as Leach's.
I don't follow recruiting, so if I'm wrong, tell me. But is he really getting the best talent out of Texas? UT, OU, even Mizzou and LSU are grabbing the best guys out of that state, aren't they? Where does TT rank in recruiting in comparison to these school, plus ATM?
Exactly nootch. Thank you. Tech isn't coming close to recruiting the likes of Texas or OU, but he sures fields a competitive team. Anybody had Harrell on their radar some 4 years ago? Leach turned him into a great QB because of the system he runs. He would do the same at Auburn. You guys are selling Leach way short.
For next year. You still haven't told us why they are going to be so great next year. Ok, so he doesn't recruit. How is this supposed to be a positive for him? His conference records: 3-5 4-4 5-3 4-4 5-3 6-2 4-4 4-4 7-1 Its not like the Big 12 has been the greatest conference of all-time lately. Good coach, not great. His name will pop up every four seasons or so and it will be followed by a return to mediocrity.
