Graham Harrell seems to think so. He says Leach wants a new challenge. Tech has a 5 year extension on the table. Auburn getting Leach would be awesome, especially if he can keep the defensive coaching staff in tact. Allegedly Auburn still has Leach on their short list. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3747531
Harrell said there was a "great" chance he would leave. I am just trying to think where else Leach would go if it wasn't to Auburn. Certainly not MSU. Clemson and Washington are taken. Washington State? I doubt it. I can't think of the other open positions.
I was not there, so I can not say this for sure, but if I had to guess, this is just something being taken out of context. Reporter: So, if Coach Leach were given an offer he couldn't refuse from a big-time program, do you think he'd leave? QB: Yeah, I think there's a great chance he'd leave if the situation was right for his family, etc... etc... I can see it playing out similar to what I illustrated above and it being something we are all making a big deal about for nothing. But I could be wrong.
Well he wasn't saying he "should" leave. He was saying that he thought the coach wanted a new challenge and there would be a great chance that he will be leaving. Here's another quote: "He deserves every penny he gets, he deserves every offer, and wherever he goes he'll be successful, and it'll be fun to watch," Harrell said. He did say that he hoped Coach stayed and continued the success of the Tech program. I just found it weird that he would even declare the chances that Leach would leave the program. I figured he would just lie about it and say that he thought coach wasn't going anywhere, or at the very least say that he didn't know.
maybe Leach put him up to it if the star QB is saying stuff like this, it might get Techs attention. earlier today, Leach's agent said TT hadn't even began o talk extension with him. While the AD is telling the papers they were. Who the hell knows what's going on out there.
That definitely is an interesting angle. QB is leaving, so what the hell. Throw his name out there and get him paid.
Leech to Auburn doesn't sound right. Going from an offensive juggernaut to a square wheel doesn't seem enticing. He'd never be able to run that style of offense with that much efficiency here in the SEC, especially at Auburn. Take that crap to the PAC-10.
