that was the difference. UF had a loss at home to an average team and their backs were against the wall. all games are not created equal and they came to play. we did not.

but we did drive to close the 2nd half and scored another td on the opening drive of the 3rd qtr which showed some great character. Cut the lead to 6 after failing to show-up almost the entire 1st half. UF had us reeling.

showed great composure to fight back in that environment.

But in the end, the big plays killed us. No way to establish a running game when you cant slow the other team down and it becomes a shoot-out.

now LSU has to regroup and show what they're made up after getting embarrassed themselves.

    Q. Why was Beckwith even on the field when Florida had just received a penalty and pushed back to the 7 or 8 yard line? 3rd and goal, right? What are the odds the Gators are going to pass - 75%? 80? At least 67%!

Come on co-DCs, get another quick DB on the field to cover their receivers like a body mold.

BTW, has Chad Jones been taking off a couple of weeks lately when it comes to making a difference? And what in Florida's everglades happened to Al Woods - no solo tackles, not even an assist. :cuss:

In the old days, when an offensive line played emotionless in the trenches, Dietzel would substitute the Go Team to try and create a spark.
Why weren't they performing like every play would be their last play?

When a player doesn't sense urgency of the moment he becomes an order-taker and is just occupying another player's turn.

What LSU is missing most from the departure of Glenn Dorsey is his LEADERSHIP - an item sorely missing from this year's DL.

I think they showed plenty of heart, just left their heads in Baton Rouge.

Execution was atrocious all night long....But still, it's just one loss-a very bad one, but the season is far from over. We take care of business against UGA and Alabama, and everyone in between, and we'll be right where we expected to be...in Atlanta. Anyone who expected a NC run from this team had their hopes a tad too high-we were shooting for a Conference title all year, and we're still in great shape to do it.

Definitely have plenty to work on this week in practice though....Nothing that can't be solved IMO. We need to lay it on the Gamecocks this week to reestablish that LSU swagger.

An interesting example, but "Primetime" was one of the most prolific trash talkers and showboaters of all time, so it's ironic you used him to make your point.

And I've read a few other people's comments along these lines, but Laron Landry was always trash talking, even when getting beat. That was just the way he rolled, it made up the swagger that made him one tough as nails football player.

It can get a little annoying, but I don't let the chest beating bother me much. It's just testosterone run amok.

Dont get me wrong, I love trash talking. So long as its backed up. Deion was my second all time favorite NFL player after Montana. He talked it but backed it up. Also, Deion said many times he was just out there having fun. Same for Landry. Sure he made mistakes, but he backed it up for the most part. I just dont think you should talk smack when you are getting your ass handed to you like LSU was last night. I agree though for some players like Landry its part of their intimidation and swagger.

I do have some concerns about the co-DC's .....both scheme and adjustments, or lack of. Maybe two heads are no better than one:eek:!
