It's a done deal, the only question is does he get a scholarship for 2009 or a greyshirt? That will depend on who we get to sign on the dotted line on Feb 4th. I do believe TJones gets the scholarship ahead of Johns. My guess is a greyshirt.
IMO if he makes the grades he gets a 2009 offer but if not then it is a greyshirt. I am guessing we sold him on that on top of everything else. I expect a commit anytime now. Do not expect him to announce on NSD.
Looking more and more like LSU will either end up with 25 or 26 2009 scholarship players (not counting TJones and Johns). And we may be able to count one backwards to 2008, making it that much more likely that TJones gets a scholarship for 2009 as well.
Well if we oversign and 26 players end up qualifying for the fall, it's obvious someone would have to take a greyshirt, and TJones would be at the top of that list.
That is only if you assume everyone qualifies. Every year there ends up being 1 or 2 that don't that the fans did not expect. We could also ask an earlier commit to take one if it came down to it. Tahj was sold on having an official offer for 2009 and I believe LSU will stand by that if he makes the grades.
Could easily get 2 commits out of Stinson/Montgomery/Myles/Kelly/JJones/Surprise and that means the number ends up at 27 or 28, depending on Duplessis counting back to 2008 or not. While it appears as though TJones stands a good shot at getting a scholarship in 2009, there is no way that it can be guaranteed.
Well based on what I have heard out of the Sulphur area the past 2 days Tahj thinks it is guaranteed if he makes the grades and Sonny has confirmed this today as well.
