You were intimating Ray Ray Armstrong as a tweener DE? It was one or the other based on what you said. I'm confused now.

Yes, he is comparable in size to Mingo. And I do not believe his skill set is comparable to Barrow. Though the LSU coaches may think differently and time will tell.

I have not heard the tweener comparision to DE for Armstrong. Everything said up until now was OLB/S. Agreed he is closest in size to Mingo.

Now I read Barrow as tweener OLB/DE. He has the perfect size to be a great OLB. Adding 20-30 lbs to a 6'2" OLB to convert him to DE makes little sense to me.

That's because I did not say that. I said Armstrong is more likely to convert based on his size only. I said that merely to illustrate the difference in their physical measurements. I used the size comparison to show that Barrow and Armstrong are not comparable.

Yeah maybe I wasn't being clear. I wasn't referring to you saying he was a tweener. It's what I have been reading on the other sites and that doesn't make sense to me.

I think your assessment of Armstrong to DE is more plausible.

Now I think we are all straightened out.

"He's a very mature kid," Head Coach Billy North said. "He's not full of himself and doesn't read his (press) clippings. He's got a calm demeanor and doesn't say a lot. He's a fun kid to be around who is very down to earth. He's all about his team. He's a very unselfish player."

    Welcome, Lamin Barrow!!!!

I like that name for a LB: Lamin (pronounced La-Mean) Barrow.

    State Honors:
#7 overall (#2 LB) on the Rivals.com Louisiana Preseason Top 40 -- LINK
#7 player (#2 LB) in Louisiana by WWL-TV.com (CBS) -- LINK
    #11 overall (#2 LB) on the TigerBait.com Louisiana Top 30 -- LINK
named to the Times Picayune Louisiana Preseason Top 25 -- LINK
named to the MaxPreps.com Louisiana Preseason 30 -- LINK
named to The Advocate Louisiana Top 40 -- LINK

    National Honors:
named to the Butkus Award 2008 High School Watch List -- LINK
Rated #21 ILB in the nation by Rivals.com -- LINK
Rated #22 SLB in the nation by Scout.com -- LINK

    Compare to:

Kelvin Sheppard (2006 LSU recruiting class)
    #36 ILB by Rivals.com
    #65 LB by Scout.com

Perry Riley (2006 LSU recruiting class)
    #27 OLB by Rivals.com
    #60 LB by Scout.com

Yet, the kid has a very humble attitude about it all:

"Coming into high school, I had never thought that I would be considered one of the best football players in the state or the country. I just saw the sport as something I loved ... Four years later and now I have a number of scholarships to choose from...
For...the blessings I've received, I can only be grateful to God. I want to thank my family ... I want to thank my school and my teammates ... Coach North, Bouge, Bridges, T-Bone, Cooper, Foster, Jackson, and Frank for giving me which will probably be the most influential years of my life and for being my father figures behind my own outstanding father."
