Cparso probably got that from looking at his limited film. And admittedly, he does look slow in the film. But he also supposedly blew up at the LSU camp this summmer and they have continued to watch him closely this season. I am happy for him and LSU.

Me too, Getting a guy from Louisiana that wants to play for LSU always sets better with me than begging a guy from out of state that has similar creditentials. Every time this football player steps on the field he will be representing his state, his school, his community, that means a lot when it comes to trying harder in difficult games.

Mingo is a lock, but if we were to somehow land J Jones and Telfort, I think Telfort would maybe be moved to safety.

Similar credentials? When do we do this?

Like Matt Mauck, JaMarcus Russell, and Matt Flynn? I don't think being from in state means you will be more dedicated or play harder than out of state kids.

Great point if they sign the scholarship offer, they should be dedicated from day one, no matter where they are from.

Ray Ray Armstrong from Florida for one... not sure if he has a offer but neither did Barrow until recently. Well, I like local Louisiana players. No No, I do in no way think one is more dedicated than the other. I just like the Local players that grow up wanting to come to LSU. Just my feelings & certainly no discredit intended to the Hundreds of out of state players that have done LSU proud.

    Re: LB Lamin Barrow Commits

Armstrong does have an offer and is rated as the #6 LB in the country. Barrow is projected at #21. Besides being bigger and possibly projecting into a tweener DE, like Mingo. That is just by taking a Rivals opinion, which I always do with a grain of salt anyway. But looking at the difference in their offer list usually tells you something. Why did we pursue McFarland and pass on Sentimore? Obviously the coaches saw something they did not like in the La kid. Most fans only see recruiting site info and film(myself included). In that case, I defer to our coaches unless I actually see a recruit play.

I would love to see every player from La get a scholarship that wanted one but they can't, and I just don't see the coaches spurning local players for out of state players with comparable talent.

Not sure where the tweener stuff is coming from since he is 6'2" and 215 or thereabouts. Not sure how that projects into a DE.

He is perfectly set to play OLB.

His speeds are consistently in the 4.5s. The speed thing very much a non-issue.

    Re: LB Lamin Barrow Commits

If Telfort projects as a possible safety then we could sign both Jones and Telfort and I hope we do if the chance presents itself.

Then you have Mingo possibly going to DE.

So then the 5 LBs, which sounds like a high number, would end up being:

    Minter MLB
    Jones OLB
    Mingo OLB/DE
    Barrow OLB/MLB
    Telfort OLB/S

Lots of flexibilty. LB is a great need and all 5 could end up being exactly that, a LB at LSU, depending on what fits them best and what our depth chart is looking like.

    Re: LB Lamin Barrow Commits

I was talking about Armstrong being that big, but wasn't clear in my paragraph structure. Tom used Ray Ray as an example of someone with similar measurables to Barrow and out of state kids getting love instead of the La kids. They are not comparable.
