Based on the little film I saw he looks like a project if you ask me and not a LB that could get significant looks early in his career. However, he could receive an offer still if we have not received a commitment from the remaining LBs on our board.

I think he still deserves a offer because we have a uphill battle with Bostic/Jones as it is. Telfort isn't a definite and Mingo doesn't seem like he'll stay in a LB body to me. I think Mingo will be a DE/LB hybrid, if not a pure DE by the time he has the weight on his frame IMO. Many reasons why you don't see 6'6 LBs very often lol.

I see Mingo staying at LB. Just for the reason that I see him as a guy we need to get on the field as soon as possible. He has to gain a ton of weight to flirt with the DE position and that must get started as soon as he steps foot on campus. If we want him at DE we will not see him on the field until his Redshirt Junior year IMO.

    soft verbal (shhhhh)

The issue with Stewart is he's another MLB. We already have Minter and and Baker. The question is whether Baker is being projected as OLB or MLB. I see him as MLB.

    Re: Jonathan Stewart

I'm sorry but not offering Stewart and offering Lamin Barrow, that's a head scratcher to me. I've seen Stewart play for three years and have seen Mingo in that time as well. Stewart has been playing the game a long time now whereas Mingo is still learning. Stewart flies to the football and is a playmaker, Mingo still hasn't learned how to get off or through blocks. I'll admit I'm biased, but I do think LSU is missing out on Stewart. My fear is that he is going to end up at Alabama and come back to haunt the Tigers. He's a soft commit to A&M and Bama has been courting him heavily, which tells me even more that LSU should snatch him up. I believe he'd go to LSU in a heart beat because all of his teammates and friends from Byrd are going to Baton Rouge, and his dad could see him play every weekend.

Now listed as #11 on rivals Louisiana list and not offered by us, but supposedly offered by some other big time schools.

    Re: Jonathan Stewart

Of course not, but right now Baker is listed at OLB and Barrow and Claibourne are not exactly highly ranked. CParso sees limited upside in Barrow who is listed as an ILB on rivals, and Claibourne must find a position, probably DB, that he hasn't been playing. Then of course we have Josh Johns as a greyshirt safety-OLB coming in as the #40 player in LA according to rivals. I think it is worth mentioning that we are passing on a highly recruited, highly ranked MLB while we are taking other players where we have adequate depth. We have also had trouble attracting 4 star LB's in the past. Perhaps we are going after faster, lighter LB's now, but Stewart's speed vs. Barrow is similar according to the services.
