Well, Michigan wasn't given a free pass and its one of the oldest, biggest college sports program in the country. They fired the coach, returned almost half a million dollars, forfeited 112 games including its two title appearances, and wasn't allowed to participate in the post-season. But, I don't think this will happen to SC because the NCAA doesn't have subponea power and will never be able to force Bush to testify unlike what unraveled at Michigan.

The NCAA may not have subpoena power but there is subpoena power in the civil case brought by the disgruntled agents. Bush may have to testify in that case. We'll see.

Bama was guilty and everyone knows it but if you follow the case that is currently in front of the Alabama Supreme Court and look at the evidence those former coaches have against rouge investigators, it could easily lead you to believe the NCAA is not only selective but corrupt. See other cases at MooU and Mizzou for further proof.

Yes this is possible but unfortunately the case doesn't revolve around extra benefits for Bush although some details may eventually come out due to the nature of the case. Lets hope the entire truth does come out so everyone knows exactly what happened.

Yep, this example showcases how corrupt society/people can be in general. It is so important that rules and laws be enforced with punishment when rules and laws are broken. I see no difference in what Reggie Bush did and how he justifies it compared to politicians and lobyists and how it affects our laws. Heck, Tom Delay was a failed Pest Control business owner when he was elected to Congress the first time. Today he's a millionaire after serving many years in Congress. How does a politician become a millionaire by serving the best interests of all U.S. citizens? And as we know, most high profile Athlete's do not go to college to get an education. They select the USC's to improve their market value for entry into the NFL. There's nothing wrong with that but there is a lot wrong with breaking rules and getting away with it just because you're good. Maybe we could get someone to interview Barry Bonds to find out his take on what Reggie Bush did.

Barker also wonders whether, even if the NCAA and Pac-10 ultimately conclude that Bush and/or his family members violated the rules, USC will be punished. "If it can't be proven that the school was involved or knew about the activity," he said, "what would (an NCAA) panel choose to do?"

This is an absolutely laughable statement, considering that the NCAA's procedure for handling all cheating cases to date has been to give the athlete complete immunity and punish the school heavily, even if it had only peripheral involvement.

Laughable is right! Even if the school didn't know they should have known. Thats what compliance departments and compliance officers are for. They are paid to continually check on the student athletes and if they missed Bush's family living way beyond their means, they are just as guilty.

The dreaded charge, "Lack of Institutional Control" should be a no brainer here.
