I think all you need do is look at a player who is currently in the NFL who played collegiately at Ole Miss who shares the same position as Joe McKnight -- Deuce McAllister -- to determine how wise a decision attend that university would be.

Deuce shared time with Joe Gunn, and while he was incredibly athletic, returned kicks, had breakaway speed to go with fantastic hands (both catching the ball out of the backfield and lining up wide) he fell to the bottom third of the first round in the draft.

    Why?

    Well, he was considered injury-prone.

He didn't miss game time, but he got nicked up quite a bit, and due to Ole Miss' lack of success and that supposed injury knock.. Deuce fell and lost a lot of money in the process.

Even though he wasn't the sole workhorse, teams keyed entirely on McAllister. He was Ole Miss' best offensive threat.

That hurt him in the long run.

Arkansas has had some pretty good players besides McFadden, especially along the offensive line. They run the ball very well, and have had a history of doing so. Ole Miss does not and has not.

    Their trademark has been inconsistency.

LSU would certainly provide the best opportunity for McKnight, especially considering that the more your team wins the more publicity its best (or often times its flashiest) player gets a lot of the credit. That won't happen at Ole Miss. He may well be spectacular, but it would likely go the way of Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma. Play fantastic. Be widely regarded as one of the nation's best players, and then be knocked out of any Heisman talk because teams like Ohio State are undefeated and Troy Smith is lighting it up. Or Arkansas because McFadden is playing quarterback, running back, returning kicks, but most importantly -- winning. OU has a lot more talent than Ole Miss. As does Arkansas.

I just don't quite follow the consideration of Ole Miss, if in fact these rumors are accurate, of course.

In the last meeting with McKnight, Miles and Crowton told Joe how he would be used in our offensive scheme, creating mismatches on linebackers and safeties in the passing game, and also playing a lot on special teams.

Makes sense to me. You get this guy involved as much as possible.

Who wants to get "all" the carries on a team that is going nowhere? Much better to get fewer carries on a team than has NC prospects.

Once again, the winning formula is:

    10-15 carries
    6-8 catches
    2-3 punt returns
    maybe even kickoff returns

Sounds a lot like the winning formula for Reggie Bush.

    Re: Consider the light shed

I really meant a kaboom for SC's recruiting season, not national recruiting overall. I stated it poorly.

That said, Michigan is hardly a powerhouse at corner right now. Donovan is seeing the world through Charles Woodson glasses. Ron English is a great recruiter and yet that won't help them to a NC any time soon. Nor will it help prepare Donovan for a career in the NFL.

And I'm still saying that JM is NOT going to be a rebel.

I like all the comments being said here.

    LSU Advantages:
    -Championships.
    -Effective Reggie-Bush-like use.
    -National television.
Ole Miss Advantages:-Lots and lots of PT.
-Chance to become the hero of college football.
    LSU Disadvantages:
    -None to mention.
Ole Miss Disadvantages:-HIGH risk of injury.
    -HIGH risk of failure.
    -No championships.
-Not a lot of nationally televised games.
-Going against Dorsey and our beasts for D-Linemen:hihi:
-A defense that can't hold on to a win!!! And D-Linemen that are an embarasment to football.(watch the JR spinning video on U-tube=>How in hell can a 260 lb QB just spin away from 2 D-Linemen?? )
    -COACH O!!!!

That's about all I can think of, feel free to add any more points.:thumb:

Deke Bellivea just said on WWL 870 that USC is out of the running.

    LSU vs. Ole Miss.

    I likes our chances.

From a poster from another sight who has ties to John Curtis HS:

"JT Curtis is telling close friends that Joe WILL sign w/ LSU and he would be shocked if Joe signed elsewhere. Joe all but committed to Miles at the in home visit. Sorry to kill the suspense but according to email I got from friend of JT Curtis, Joe is a done deal."

This same poster also said a week ago that USC was out of the running, which is being widely reported now.
