havent i heard/read that peveto is a good recruiter? i would be happy with a new special teams coach. and if peveto is better on d, then why not the move to d, where he can coach more to his abililty and also recruit. i guess bottom line is i trust miles. he has shown both at lsu and at ok state that he wants to have the best assistants for the program, and he doesnt have the ego that is gonna keep that from happening. if this happens and he thinks it is the right fit, i trust it will be and give it the chance to work. i also agree with cparso. who says we couldnt get someone established. my guess is we can. i believe miles is looking for the best fit for the program, not just the name and rep.
CP, I do have faith in Miles and will trust his decision, but I am a little nervous about it. I know LSU could persuade an established DC to come to LSU. Have they been trying or was this decision made long ago. You're right, we don't know exactly what these guys know about defense, but I trust Miles does and he must have full confidence in them. I will trust his decision because he has made great hires for LSU, but I am a little nervous about it. I think being nervous about it is reasonable.
Perhaps he's just not a very good Special Teams coach? I bet Crowton isn't very good at special teams. Peveto is probably a worse offensive coordinator.
i just want to know why we didn't pursue Will Muschamp? i'm not a fan of Peveto...i hate that stupid punt formation. its a few feet from being blocked each time. other than that, i know nothing about him. i definately think we can name who we want at this point...
You would think DCs would be chomping at the bit to come here, especially seeing how Pelini got rewarded with a head coaching job at an historic program.
Maybe Coach Miles wasn't interested in Muschamp, but I think your right that he can get whoever he wants. I honestly am a little surprised that he may be going in house for a DC, but I'm sure its for a good reason if he does. :geaux:
I would trust that Miles would not hire a coordinator who can be disruptive or polarizing to his team, no matter how good they are. I believe Miles is a TEAM coach; seems like Pellini deals with his players in a similar fashion, and gained the love and respect of his players, like Miles.:thumb:
As I recall games with Georgia Tech, JT seemed to be up in the coaching box instead of on the sidelines. I guess it can be done either way, but it seemed like there was something lost in the way he was communicating with the players.
Emotion is important on defense. I like DCs like BP. Very very close to the players. The players need a coach to rally around sometimes.
Crowton was in the box a lot this year though, wasn't he? I know for sure he was up there on Monday night. I understand your point though.
