As a player, Pelini was free safety for Ohio State. He was an NFL DB coach from 94 to 96 and he was DB coach at Oklahoma in 2005, yet he was also an NFL LB coach from 1997-2002. Being that he has six years of being an NFL LB coach and only 4 years of being a DB coach (3 at the NFL level), why wouldn't he be splitting his time at LSU helping coach both the LBs and the DBs? Of course as DC, Pelini was responsible for supervising all the defense, which he wouldn't be doing if he just focused on the DBs.
I count 6 years as DB coach '94-'99, but that's not the point. He was a DB although I'm sure he helped at every position. What matters is that the expert DB coach on the staff was Pelini and as seen this year Mallory has trouble holding a clip board with out Bo there to hold his hand. No way he should be retained as a DB coach. Just like LSU did Arkansas this season, they should give him the boot.
