    Edwards' bio: http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/coachingstaff/coachingstaff_edwards_g.asp

Dandy Don calls him the "Miami Dolphin defensive coordinator...who is known as a great defensive backfield coach." and says that he heard "rumor and speculation" that he is the latest of "several names being mentioned as possible defensive coordinator candidates at LSU."

However, George Edwards is not the Miami Dolphin DC and he is not a DB coach. He is in 4th season as the LB coach for the Dolphins (including as Nick Saban's LB coach in 2005 and 2006). Before that he was LB coach for the Butch Davis-coached Browns (2004), Defensive Coordinator of the Steve Spurrier-coached Redskins (2003), LB coach of the Steve Spurrier-coached Redskins (2002), and LB coach of the Cowboys (1998-2001).

His connection to Les Miles: both were coaches for the Dallas Cowboys together from 1998 to 2000

His connection to Steve Spurrier: he played LB for Spurrier when Spurrier was head coach of Duke, and his first coaching job was for Spurrier at Florida. When Spurrier was head coach of the Redskins, Spurrier hired him as his LB coach and promoted him to defensive coordinator.

    Dandy Don also write that:

The hottest rumor is that LSU defensive back coach Doug Mallory is being courted by a big-time school to coach defensive backs

According to Tom Dienhart of Rivals today:

Most expect LSU's Les Miles to select a new defensive coordinator. Current co-coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto is a candidate for the head-coaching post at Northwestern State (La.), and fellow co-coordinator Doug Mallory likely would stay at LSU in some capacity. So would Peveto, if he doesn't land the Northwestern State job.

i would assume without looking it up that he and miles were in dallas together at the same time.

i actually like this guy, he seems to get the most out of his players turning joey porter into a beast this year despite his character.

he would be an interesting candidate no doubt.

  Please let this be true.

    Please God no.

I'm sure they are fine gentlemen but it's time for LSU and these guys to go in new directions. Between their coaching scheme and their lack of discipline this past year was an abysmal failure.

In all fairness it's probably a case of their talents being spread thin. I thought our DBs were pretty good last year and before then too.

You mean when Bo was the DB coach and Mallory was his assistant?

    That Rivals article also said:

Among those thought to be possibilities [for the DC job at LSU] are former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis, UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker, former Syracuse coach Greg Robinson, Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix and USC defensive coordinator Nick Holt.

I've seen all those other names mentioned plenty of times as candidates, but I've never seen anybody mention Nick Holt before.

I didn't realize BP was the positional coach.

I'm pretty sure that Mallory was the DB coach, not Pelini. I don't think Pelini was a position coach at all.

Mallory was the position coach in name, but Pellini was a DB and his backgroung was coaching DB's, he played the larger role in coaching the DB's just like Saban did when he was here. Saban wasn't the DB coach but if you ever saw a practice there was no doubt who was coaching the DB's.
