And if TTU does win out and bammer is somehow upset, then beats fl in the SEC CG (or reverse that scenario), TTU may have to replay texas for the NC. That would be a crock.....
Yes that is what would happen. The voters would still have the choice to place USC above Texas and thus create a USC vs TTech game instead. USC is still lagging behind Texas by a good amount in the computer polls and that will continue through the end of the season.
Yes, which logically will be OU. I cannot see Texas holding off OU if OU beats both Okie-St and TTech. But at this point, Texas is ahead. OU will catch and most likely surpass Texas in the computer polls, although it will be close. It's all up to the voters at that point. Look for Texas to win 72-0 in the coming weeks, or try to.
Interestingly Utah has indeed closed the gap and is just behind USC. A big win by Utah over BYU (10+ points) could vault them past USC, leaving USC with no chance of playing for the national championship. One could only hope.
In evaluating how Texas was able to hold off Florida for 3rd in the BCS, I came up with this analysis: Texas beats Baylor 45-21 at home. Nothing special. OU beats Texas A&M 66-28 at A&M. Most points ever given up by A&M at home. I thought the OU win was more impressive. In the Harris poll, Texas gained 88 points on OU. In the Coaches poll, Texas gained 49 points on OU. I think this is a "correction" of sorts. This has to be troubling to OU fans. The problem for Texas is they play Kansas this week while OU is idle and then Texas is idle while OU plays Tech. It would be better if Texas were playing the same weekend as OU playing Tech.
I thought most SEC fans would want to finally play USC in a championship game... you know... put an end to the banter, etc. Actually, I'd like to see Oregon State win out and get the Rose Bowl nod, making USC an at-large and pitting them against Bama in the Sugar Bowl (after Bama loses to Florida in the SEC championship.) How's that for some thinkin'....
