1. Alabama 2. Texas Tech 3. Florida 4. Texas 5. Oklahoma 6. USC 7. Utah 8. Penn State 9. Boise State 10. Ohio State Florida will just squeak by Texas with their impressive win over a pretty solid Vandy team on the road. Style points rule the day. USC, Utah and Penn State fight it out for positions 6-8. How much respect does Utah get from beating a very good TCU team? And how much a hit does Penn State take? If Penn State is dropped below Utah in both polls, Utah could surpass USC in the BCS. Alabama and Florida appear headed to the SEC CG without losing another game. That means the winner definitely gets into the NC game. The opponent appears to be coming from the Big 12. If Texas and OU win out, then OU will surpass Texas in the BCS with wins over Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. This means OU wins the tie-breaker and would have to beat most likely Missouri in the Big 12 CG. A loss there and then USC comes into the picture. Then comes the complicated part. A 1 loss Texas team which did not even appear in the Big 12 CG would end up ahead of USC in the BCS. It's the '01 Nebraska syndrome all over again. Projected NC Florida vs. Oklahoma
They will in the computer polls most likely since Okie-State was much higher ranked than LSU. They won't get enough support from the pollsters, unless they do the right thing and put them #1. But that won't happen. Look for Bama to secure the #1 spot in the BCS but the margin will probably shrink in half over Tech.
i cant see texas winning out and OU passing them. OU is too suspect on defense. the national championship game will be Texas vs. Florida. And im sorry but i think Texas gets dominated. The big 12's defenses are just not good enough to hang with Florida.
If OU wins out, they will have great wins against 2 highly ranked opponents, and Texas just lost last week. OU will easily pass Texas if OU wins out. The Big 12 has some of the best offenses in the nation as well as Heisman QBs in it. Anyone's defense would look suspect playing in the Big 12 right now.
Interesting how nobody is even mentioning Texas Tech to even win the Big 12 South. I think Tech will lose at Oklahoma, but as bad as Oklahoma State looked tonight, I still think OK St. beats Oklahoma in Stillwater to end the season. This would leave Texas and Texas Tech at 11-1 and give Tech the tiebreaker.
Unfortunately for Tech they will fall hard if they lose to OU. So even in that scenario where you have them winning the Big 12 CG, they will be behind USC and Texas in the BCS, as crazy as that sounds. Unless the pollsters make a "correction" in the polls after they beat Missouri. Crazier things have happened.
ESPN briefly touched on it last night, but what scenario could have 2 Big 12 South teams play for the NC????:geaux:
One scenario from last night was Florida losing to Florida State or South Carolina, then beating Bama in the SEC championship... along with Texas Tech and Texas winning out.
