Before anyone rages, this is pure speculation on the fact that the D , D’line in particular, is legit this year.

First, we are easily set to destroy a few negative areas that this D possessed last year:
    · Sacks
    · Pressure
    · Tackles for a loss
    · Rushing D
This fact alone will keep all games, the good and bad ones, in reach. This at least shows LSU the way to the SEC Champ this year.

My main point for this is that, as good as the D was from keeping the other team to minimal TD’s, we had little to no help from the D line. This is key for some of our big games.

The only real threat LSU has to losing to a team truly worthy of beating us is Uf, Bama and Ark. I say Ark b/c they have a true passing attack, probably the best in the SEC, that should not be underrated, even though their D stinks. Bama and UF, as of late, just have their chit together.

I have confidence in saying that with this kind of pressure out of the D’line, the games could easily swayed more in the favor of LSU.

Second, if the running game is improved, LSU still has a real shot at the west. Granted, I know that any point and time they can just load the box, however, we have Sheppard, TT and Randle. They will constantly be a threat IF the QB can get them the ball………

Third, I am going off pure faith that the Vandy game was a fluke and that IF JJ can meet him average passing yards from last year.

I think the D Line in many ways could be the X factor this year. They could be the reason games are won. I have always been a big believer in SP teams and this area will help us out in key situations too.

    D’line
    Running game
    QB
These 3 were the big issues of last year. So far 2 are fixed and we as tiger fans have to like our options over last year…

Here is to hoping the QB’s can bring it home for us. Nobody wants to lose a game this year, but the reality of it is we will. The only question is when? There is so much youth on the team that a break down at some point is likely to happen, though it sure would be great if it didn’t.

If LSU could manage to beat Bama this year and win the west, this would be a great season for this young team..

We'll get a better idea about a lot of things after the Mississippi State game.

Beat that team 27-3 and we're on to something.

I need more specifics. Are you saying if we beat them by that exact score, or if we beat them by 24? Give us your requirements, please sir.

And what does "we'll be on to something" really mean?

    Again...

What's the line in this game again? 9 points? So if LSU doesn't beat Miss State by 2.5x the line, then we're NOT on to something?

    I'm just checking.

It's very early to tell, but this season is liable to have many close games and some surprise blow outs (the good kind) because of this team's youth.

I understand the desire for perfection and playing up to one's potential. But I am in the win-is-a-win camp. If LSU beat Miss St by 3, McNeese by 10, and still beats Bama or Florida on the way to a 9 or 10 win season - it will be a successful season beyond my personal expectations.

If the Tigers lose 4 SEC games, I will be disappointed and a bit surprised.
