I was thinking seriously about the last snap against Ole Miss and I have a scenario. I haven't been around here or posted much since the game because I wanted to cool down so I apologize if someone else has mentioned it because I haven't read some posts here. OK, so Branden Lafell catches the ball, I believe it was him? Anyway time is ticking off the clock but you have performed this in practice at least once. He has been told to act like he is hurt so that the time would stop and you could get your fg team set up for a fg. I don't know if this would work or not, any thoughts? One other question. How much time has to be on the clock to run the play where we caught the ball and then rush the fg team out for an attempt. I know I have seen this done in previous years, I think the Broncos for one. I don't remember exactly but I'm not a good game clock manager either.
it was tolliver not lafell i believe. i think what you are saying is dirty pool but i think it's legal. that player would just have to sit out the next play. i wouldn't think miles would coach that and that's not an insult on his intelligence. maybe if we still had hester and he made the catch. btw i know this is a a jump but is anyone else excited to see hester come back here and be the head coach in like 2022? just sayin.
i think an injury in the last seconds of the game leads to a 10 seconds off the clock but that may be an NFL rule. the should have just run another play, fade route something. also dont know if the chains would have reset because they were inside the 10, it was a goal to go situation.
someone was saying that during the game and i said no they would run off 10 seconds if we did so. but im not sure either. i get the leagues confused.
Is it really? Is it really any different than players lobbying for a pass interference call? I see players and coaches lobbying all the time for a call in all sports. Sometimes they say, question and do stuff so that they can get the next call.
well i thought the same thing because someone with us was asking why didn't we just jump offsides or personal foul someone to stop the clock? i said b/c there's a 10 sec run off. but i wasn't sure. shirley you would think there would be provisions against such tactics in the rulebook? well not dirty enough for me not to be happy with it if we did it, but something doesn't seem right about it. but it's no different that defensive players staying on top of a guy after the tackle to try to drain time.
kind of limited on what you can do with the formation on the field with a quick snap and 1 second left.
Faking the injury thing, there's got to be some kind of rule against that, I would think. As far as jumping offsides, you don't have time. As soon as the ref signals, the second is gonna run off. If you don't have time to snap it, you certainly don't have time to jump offsides. Not only that, but the game CAN end on an offensive penalty, but not a defensive penalty or do I have that reversed???
