quick question and wouldn't have changed anything but why weren't any flags thrown. There was still time on the clock and Newton and a couple other players were in the endzone, helmets off, high fiving fans in the crowd. Yes, they beat us good for them but should have been unsportsman like conduct. Also, thank god our players are good natured and disciplined cause it could of been another Boise ST/Oregon incident. And as a coach my self I dont know if i would of been able to punish my players after that. It was disrespectful and just a mockery and a sad way to end a good game. But that is jmo, take it for what it is worth. :geaux: hell we are still 7-1 and 2 weeks to get ready to kicks some gump arse.
They just kneeled on the ball inside the 5 instead of going for style points. I hardly call that disrespectful. Let it go. They just put an arse-whippin on an undefeated, #6 ranked SEC West team. They had every right to celebrate.
understand that part but removing the helmet in the field of play is a penalty regardless, just ask Mizzou they got flagged for it tonight.
I agree, I thought they were going to crack down on the whole "bring attention to one's self" thing this season. They sure threw the flag on PP7 for doing a pose. Yet Newton is allowed to stay in the endzone 30 or 40 seconds after his touchdowns and celebrate. Overall I thought the officials weren't a complete disaster. I thought they should have flagged Fairlay twice for unnecessary roughness. I also thought they were screwing us on a few spots, but i thought they actually did a good job with replay finally. Although, i didn't think you could review a player's forward progress, maybe that's why that play wasn't overturned. Thought i saw alot more holding on Nevis than just that one call, but holding is very subjective.
i did let it go thats why i ranted, lol. Of course they kneeled the coach told them to, he was classy. I am talking players and officals. Plus u celebrate when the game is over, time was still on the clock.
Because it was off of the field of play and not a taunt toward our team. They weren't required to snap the ball again or stay on the field for the clock to run out. The only thing I saw as a little bit unusual was that Cam went to ham it up in the stands with the student body instead of celebrating with his teammates. I guess you get some leeway when you just made one of the best defenses in the conference and country into your personal prison bitch for 60 minutes.
Actually is was dead ball foul, no clock running. It happend as the officals were gathered together to figure out if OK had touched the ball early on the onside kick. So, the whole they didnt have to snap the ball excuse is out of context. It is all on the officals, just like last year when everybody wanted one called on Cody lasy year vs TN. It is what it is, and for those that say they have class cause they knelt the ball, I have 2 things to say. 1. the coach calls the plays not the players. 2. anything could happen if they run a play (think dal vs wash). Also, the same people saying they won they can celebrate get mad at our players for celebrating when they do something good. Ala PP7 w/ his heisman pose.
