This is suicide for the Chiefs: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=rotowire-arryohnsonubjectofra&prov=rotowire&type=fantasy
Herm Edwards ran him over 400 times last year. It's common for backs to break down the next year after having that type of workload. I don't like the trade idea though.
Getting rid of the best player on the team? Shopping him around? Disrespectful and dumb. LJ is young and the chances of him breaking down are slim. I think it's a money issue and they're being cheap. If we didn't have the best 2 rb's in the league, then I would want to Saints to make a run at him! But we do.....so I don't.:thumb:
I think its a good move. RB's are easier than most positions to come buy and they will get a great deal since he's in his prime. He has been great, but we all know RB's careers are short. The Chiefs have plenty of other needs.
They just lost Will Shields from a line that was already worse than its been in years. The beating LJ has taken over the last couple of years will catch up to him soon. Might as get as much value as possible for him now. Either way, even he would stuggle to duplicate his success from recent years if he's running behind a patchwork line.
NFL Radio reports that this is his contract year and he wants $60mil like LT has. This could mean that they don't feel that they will keep him after this year, so why not get something for him while you can.
UPDATE: Chiefs insist there's no effort to trade Larry Johnson http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-chiefs-johnson&prov=ap&type=lgns
