When a reporter told him that he just cost conf usa alot of money not being able to play in the bcs game......he said " we should be playing in a bcs game" ....lol a 11-2 c usa team saying they should play in a bcs game.....all they did was expose Houston before a bcs team would have.
You could tell he was pissed and all worked up when the question was asked--probably because he had already heard it (costing the conference money) a few times before... I'd be pissed, too. Why should HE care if he cost the CONFERENCE money??! C-USA won't save his job should the USM administration get upset if they hadn't won the game, and if say, Fedora couldn't lead USM to another title game next year or the year after??? The players certainly don't give a sh*t about the conferences ability to make money. Fedora has a responsibility to his players, the USM fans and his own well-being by being employed to WIN championships/bowl games....NOT CUSA's wallet. It was a stupid question to ask a coach that just won a title over a previously unbeaten, top 10 opponent....and the response you heard was likely one to shut up the reporter from asking something else on the subject.
Larry Fedora had a right to be pissed at the stupid comment, but he's ridiculous to even PRETEND USM deserves to be in a BCS Bowl. I live amongst 'em, and those moron fans were all excited a couple weeks ago thinking that when they beat Houston, they would go to the Sugar Bowl. That was RIGHT before they lost to U A friggin B! They had already lost to Marshall. Larry most likely was just saying it to pump up the fanbase, RIGHT before he takes a HC job at a REAL program. Congrats on the CUSA Championship USM.
You're right, it is ridiculous for him to think they deserve a BCS bid, but in fairness to him, so was the comment about him costing the conference so much money. What's he supposed to do, tell his players to lose on purpose?
I don't know what river you live down by, but if you lived near Hattiesburg, MS, you'd understand better what I'm saying. I acknowledged the comment was stupid, and he had a right to be pissed about it. But a CUSA team with losses to UAB and Marshall doesn't get to say they deserve a BCS Bowl.
