The war is un-necessary? How quickly we forget. I don't know what they are being trained to do but I can guarantee you it is not policing the grounds.
Military is for War. War is declared by congress. Was this? Is this a war? And if so against what country? And if so does that country have an army or navy? Does it take 100,000 men to go after 100 left in Afghan? I'm sure you are smarter than that. And No I'm not in the Military. And yes I am an armchair opinionator (not sure that is a word). Does that help..
Tactics change according to the enemy. A military that refuses to change tactics will lose the fight. See the British in America, Russians in Afghanistan, French in Vietnam, etc. There are plenty of military groups adept at policing like the Germans, Israelis, etc. Nothing wrong with learning, expanding and adapting to new tactics. However, I suppose this means we'll soon see Afghan Police Forces beating citizens and using excessive force on YouTube... :hihi:
That is all they do? Really? What happens when they happen upon a distress signal at sea? Sorry dudes, we only make war. If you want us to blow you out of the water, we will be there. Otherwise... How about when Special forces provide intelligence on other countries? Not technically war you know? Or how about cross-training forces in other countries. Not exactly war there either. The fact is that armies have done more than just break things for a very long time. It is not optimal, but it is inevitable. Learning how better to adapt to the environment they find themselves in is a good thing. It usually means they can stay alive longer. I like that. Regardless of civilians disagreeing about their original mission statement, which is a political argument.
And now you are taking things out of context of the thread. I was talking about the Military being trained by the LAPD in the OP. Not about the CIA, not about the Coast Guard, not about special forces. However. Our Military is not for policing nor nation building. Both of which they are doing.
How am I taking anything out of context? You stated the military as only having a mission of war. I provided examples showing that is not true. Only the CIA engage in intelligence gathering? Not too familiar with the military are you? Who said coastguard? The navy does not engage in rescuing people at sea? Is that near Pensacola? :hihi: Panshet mishap: Friday's search futile, operation will go on today - Pune - City - The Times of India When did special forces stop being part of the military? Well that explains Japan and Germany. What a relief to finally have that cleared up.
I'm sorry maybe I used Military too broad when I was describing my viewpoint here based on the OP. I will try and be a bit more specific going forward.
