I think they were a little tired after playing three games this week but when MSU starting getting fired up...Big Syl took over. MSU also cooled off when our ladies started applying more pressure. It's been a pretty good weekend for our teams! :geaux:
I will take a #1 seed but we cant have any slip ups in the SEC torney. With a few higher ranked team having to play each other in their own conference championships. However, I heard from somone more in the know about seeding than I do and he said that it could be an advantage to get a high-end #2 seed. That way we would play the 1st 2 rounds at home and then possibly the next to rounds in New Orleans. Home court through the elite 8 would be nice to have.
Vey good day. Fowles sets career double-double and rebound records. Outright SEC Champs. Mainieri wins his 900th game today and the Tigers Sweep. Butch 3 in a row. Spring Practice underway. Randall gay comes home.
If LSU wins the tourney, they should be a #1 seed. I think the NCAA tournament committee will want to award an SEC team a #1 seed. So it comes down to who wins the SEC tourney. I think we need to pull for UConn to beat Rutgers just to be safe so as to get them out of the picture. If they beat UConn, then both will likely get a #1 seed. There is still a possibility that both North Carolina and Maryland get #1 seeds, if Maryland wins their conference tourney.
at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter a ton. they'll either be the last No. 1 seed or the 1st No. 2 seed, so the elite 8 matchup will probably be the same regardless... catch my drift? I mean, yeah, the 7-seed is tougher than the 8 seed in round two, and the 3-seed is harder than the 4-seed in round 3, but WBB has a ton less parity than men. The 1 and 2 seeds almost 100% of the time at least make it to the Sweet 16. The most important thing is more than likely they will be in the New Orleans region which means they won't have to take a plane until the Final Four. That helps... a lot... also, the 1st and 2nd rounds will be in the PMAC. I expect to see some of your butts in those seats. It will be real embarrassing to the university if they have an attendance of 3,402 in the Tournament. it's the Sat and the Mon of the Easter weekend, so bring your visiting family and friends, too.
Clair, or whoever knows. LSU has one scholarship to give in 2009 right? Who are they looking at & what position do they need most? I was thinking they would save that last scholarship they gave out last week & have two for 2009 but that didn't happen. Course there could be some dropouts I guess...
I agree with Clair, as long as LSU gets put into the New Orleans regional, then it won't matter much as to whether we get a #1 or a #2.
there were going to give it to Shannon Veal before she passed. I don't know their direction now. the recruiting class coming in is spectacular.
