Just a reminder to everyone in Louisiana to go out and vote either on November 19th or early voting from now to the 12th. Constitutional amendment #1 will prevent the state from implementing a tax on the purchase and sale of real estate or mortgage origination. Without this amendment, the state could charge you a tax to buy a house, sell a house, or put a mortgage on your house. I've seen it in other states and the taxes can total up to 1%-2.5% of your home's value or the value of any property you buy, sell, or mortgage. A vote of yes is a vote against these taxes.

To put a dollar on that amount...your standard $250,000 average home would have a tax of $2,500 - $5,000.
