Ok we haven't had a good NASCAR discussion in a while. With all this talk about Kyle Busch crashing JR at Richmond, Jr Nation is just getting rediculous with the hatred towards Kyle Busch. First of all, they were just racing hard and Kyle got loose and drifted into him. People are saying that Kyle shouldn't have pushed that hard:huh: It was inside 5 laps to go, Kyle has a reputation for being very loose. So if JR was going to race that low with Kyle pushing that hard you have to expect something may happen. With that said, Dave from Wind Tunnel pointed out something very interesting. All this is very similar to a young driver that came onto the scene about 30 yrs ago. He was doing what he had to do to win races and was easily the most talented driver on the track. All the other driver's hated him and thought he was reckless. Funny how JR Nation doesn't see how Kyle Busch is so similar to "The Intimidator".
thats because dale didnt come off as a queer prick to most. when your driving style matches your personality the perception is better. no different with other sports. ronnie lott was treated better as a safety because he looked like a tough guy and. jason sehorn was a douche because he gelled his hair. ronnie was easily betterr, but you get the point.
Did you see people in the stands flipping Kyle off when he passed by them. Funny sh!t right there. DW I think compared that type of racing style to Dale and even pointed out that Dale spun out Labonte in a race when he was coming up and everyone hated him for it. Its racing, and since #20 seems to have gotten a cooler head they need something to fire it up alittle every now and then!!
It is pretty simple. Fans are driven by the success of their drivers. No different then football where one set of fans would say that chop block was done on purpose and the other saying it was incidental as a result of a communication failure. Like the example Crip made, I was watching when Dale punted Labonte in Bristol. I wanted to smash the TV when that occurred. Ask an Earnhardt fan and they will tell you it was an accident! Thing is this incident is healthy for the sport and I believe these are incidents which will be policed by the drivers on the track. The hatred will build against Busch and other non- related drivers may…hold him up a lap before letting him pass, things like that. What sucks is sh!t stories like this refuse to die as they dominate the weeks talks and mask the achievements of others deserving honorable mentions. Travis Kvapil and David Gilliand are 19th and 20th in points however they have no or limited stickers on their hoods! If the media could pick up on their work and give it some talk they just might have stickers. That said I don’t like either but I respect what they have done, just sayin!
No, Dale Sr. spun Labonte twice...once at Richmond, and once at Bristol, and both times were pretty late in his career/life. The first time was in like '96, and Labonte slid across the finish line backwards for the win. The second time was in like '99, and Dale won. He was actually booed...only time I ever heard him get booed. He was very uncomfortable in the post race interview...saying "I was just trying to rattle his cage". Rerail----------I don't like Kyle Busch...or his big eared brother for that matter. I'm not necessarily a big Jr. fan, but I like him. However, I've watched the replay over and over, and I think Dale Jr. came down on him as much as KB slid up into him. As they say on the broadcasts, there wasn't a lot of give and take there...which is to be expected at that point in the race. Had KB won, I don't even wanna think about what Jr. nation would've done. YouTube - Earnhardt "rattleing his cage" Ironically, you mention people flipping Busch off as he passed, and in one of the youtube vids I found of Earnhardt Sr. wrecking Labonte...there are people flipping off Sr.
Typically, fans of a certain driver will get defensive is their driver isn't worth a crap. Now, of course, his performance has gone up since he joined HMS, but his fans are ready for him to win. When those chances of him winning get spoiled, they get mad. Sorry, not a big Dale Jr. fan.
I saw a picture of a guy that claims to be a nascar fan. he looks like a cross between jose, my yard man, and the dude off of slingblade.
Yep, you just knew something was gonna happen Yep, Jr. fans are just that way Jr. fans think he does no wrong I don't like Kyle either, and I especially don't like his big eared brother, and I don't like Jr. And I can tell you what they woulda done, they would threw their beer cans and coolers at the track, just like they do at Dega. It has gotten better about that though, but it still happens some. I am not a Jr. fan at all. In fact since my driver quit racing,(Jimmy Spencer), I don't have a favorite driver. When we go to Dega, I am simply a :helmet: fan. Don't even wear a drivers shirt anymore, just wear :helmet: stuff.
