Krag did well at Tulsa as Okie can probably attest to. Plenty wanted him back at Tulsa for a second go around. Some politics prevented that. Also, didn't he have to clean up a mess or two at UL? Some players were shown the door. Give the man a chance. The seat isn't even warm.
People always mention that Krag ran a 12-1 Orange Bowl team into the ground and Brohm returning yadda yadda yadda. First off, it's Louisville...the cupboard is only go have so much stock in it. Second, Krag likes to have balance. Louisville was way out of balance that first year. Reason? They had **** for running back. Michael Bush was a potential Heismann candidate and decided to come out. Because Bush had gotten hurt during the Orange Bowl year and the backup, Kolby Smith, went gangbusters in his absence, HE came out too. They both got drafted. After those two, there was nothing there. All of a sudden you're one dimensional and you're losing games because you can't control the clock/tempo. Add to that, you've got a team full of jackasses and you have to dismiss several players. An unknown commodity at head coach cannot afford the kind of first year Krag had at a program that was spoiled by winning the previous year, even though they don't have a winning history. You won a couple of years, but that's not enough to be the kind of recruiters that can build a powerhouse. I think, given a full compliment of players, which he will likely always have at LSU, and a good QB, he can work wonders with these guys. His offense, while a little pass-heavy, doesn't seem to be the clock-controlling pass tempo of some spread offenses. He controls the clock by running the ball...which we know Les loves (as do I). I think this guy will be juuuusssst fine in P&G.
Not many seem to have either. Many seem to want to focus on the surface of what appears to not be very impressive. When one looks deeper into the situation one might get a different perspective. With the talent we have, and will have in the future Krag and the rest of the offensive coaching staff will be able to produce a very solid offense.
Then gimme some information to foster security and confidence- that's what I've been looking for. Stuff like this. Not like this.. and this... Not sure, exactly, about this but I'm fairly certain if I were to understand it would most likely make me feel differently regardless of whatever I felt, if I felt one way or the other, I believe. What is it about him that satisfies you? Please do tell. Help us all to be excited about this hire.
Saban let UAB and ULM outscore two of his teams but that doesn't make him someone who doesn't know defense. :yelwink2:
I personally trust in Les, I was hoping we would hire Fuente but obviously Miles saw something better in Kragthorpe. Miles knows what he is doing he is the coach so you are right we should all trust in Les.
Uh, who hired Crowton? :dis: There's no doubt all coaches need good assistants but Miles, even moreso. One that can help with his most glaring flaw, game day coaching. Head coaches can't watch everything.
