It seems the latest batch of Disgruntled/Undefeated fans, while attacking Studs/Miles for crimes against Football, seem to have completely forgotten about Steve Kragthorpe. Yes he is our "QB coach", but he is also an integral part of the Offensive game planning you see on Saturdays. So when you're throwing down what you think are your most shocking, most vile insults, don't forget to mention Steve. Yes, he has Parkinson's disease, but he's doing well & can take it.
Well, last night, we only ran it 50% of the time, and see where that led us... Fumbles notwithstanding. Our RBs fumbled more last night than in the previous 4 years.
so has our QB and when they stacked the box all night we should have thrown it 70%. We need the practice.
Regarding the RB's and fumbles, we've had a great track record the past several years with backs that can hold onto the ball. Maybe we were due for a clunker, and things will now return to normal. I suppose we can chalk it up to, it's football and fumbles happen.
I don't get ESPNU so didn't get to watch game. Here's my question. Was it raining? Was the field bad? If so that could account for A LOT. There's SO much truth about a wet field being a great equalizer. And as you all know, it REALLY DOES favor the "weaker" team.
Much of the rain came down before the game. Field looked fine. Rain had little-to-nothing to do with the biggest problems on display last night.
Did you see that stat that LSU is 110th in run-pass ratio. Out of 120 FBS teams, we are 110th regarding run versus pass. Another words, we don't pass very much... i.e. game planning is easier even for Towson.
You win games by running what you do well. For LSU that's pounding the rock. When you start to get cute and get away from what you do well is when you lose games that you should have won. As long as LSU is blowing guys off the ball, the plat-action will be there for big plays. If LSU cuts out the turnovers, runs the ball 70% of the time the opposing defense will be suceptible for play-action and the LSU defense will be fresh as a daisy in the 4th quarter when opposing offenses are trying to keep up.
When an SEC defense brings 8 in the box, you can try to run all you want... it ain't happening. Matter of fact, take away the Shepard run and tell me how much they ran against a FCS Towson defense. Even without turnovers, SEC defenses will force you to pass the ball. We happened to have a lot of other variables last year that helped us win football games which we don't have this year.
