Stress is a contributor to symptoms. Stepping down as OC releves the stress remaining as QB coach provides an outlet and positive feedback. We get to keep a proven developer of QBs and valuable input.
It is a win-win for him and LSU.

That's all fine and well but from what I can tell, he is still damn near the OC. He has input on every call, he just doesn't make the final decision. How is that going to eliminate stress?

i was wondering, arent the symptoms somewhat controllable with drugs, at least sometimes? if so, this also allow him to remain at lsu (and employed) in a capacity that is really needed, and also allow him less duties so he can have more time to focus on medical treatments and possibly finding medications that will work for him.

Medication has probably improved significantly since when my grandmother was fighting Parkinson's in the late 90s, but I remember those drugs had very bad side effects. Put simply, her mind was very spaced out while she was taking them to control the physical symptoms.

As many have already stated, my prayers and thoughts go out to Coach Kragthorpe and his family. They must be going through so much right now as they try to sort all this out and with the unknown of where this will take them. I know they will be given the strength and comfort to get through this together.

On a second note, the character of our head coach and his ability to properly prioritize what's important continues to impress me. His loyalty and commitment to family are second to none. There is a reason why Coach K was called here to LSU.

Consider that he is going to be starting a series of medications that have side effects, both physical and mental, and he may not want to trust his judgement entirely until they find the right doses and he is comfortable with it.

Good point, but I guess we are all just speculating at this point and may never really know what his thought process is or what the doctors told him. I do know the meds can have side effects, but my experience is outdated. I was told my great grandfather refused the meds because he couldn't handle the side effects--don't know what they were because I was very young. What a previous poster said about stress exacerbating the symptoms I witnessed at a funeral. I had forgotten about that. My great aunt was fine, just a slight tremor of the hands, until we were at the graveyard burying her husband. By the end of the funeral, when it was time to leave her head and mouth were shaking uncontrollably and it was a sad sight. In the several years following, until the present time I have never seen her shake that bad again.

Well, in Tiger Country it’s easy to have your head called for, so in one aspect, after a horrible offensive performance, and/or a Loss, at least he won’t be publicly chastised. All that weight now falls on Stud, and of course CLM
