Krag appeared before hundreds playing $55 to $80 each at Lod Cook Alumni Center last night some quotes: on JJ: on Lee: on Mett: Kragthorpe, Mainieri take stage on Tiger Tour | LSU | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, LA
so Krag only plans on preparing one QB, maybe two, for each game. at the end of Spring practice, Mett finished #3 on the depth chart, so unless the light bulb goes on for him in Fall practice, we're looking at only preparing JJ, and maybe Lee, for each game. if Mett can show he's as good as JJ and/or Lee, and both JJ and Lee stink it up on the field, then Mett should be part of the "one or two quarterbacks" that we prepare for that next week's game
I don't think it's that he is not as good as JJ and JL, his throwing ability, accuracy is probably better than JJ and JL's. You have to look at the intangibles, leadership, knowledge of playbook, teamwork with the other players, SEC experience, these are all things that JJ and JL is above Mett IMO.
I'm sure Mett will be brought along at a comfortable pace. It would not be wise to throw him to the wolves like JJ and Lee had to do. He will have to learn how mistakes in the SEC will cost you. He will be groomed to be the future QB. Why blow his confidence now when we already have two train wrecks.
The negatives I've heard on Mett have to do less with on the field issues and more with attitude and work ethic.
That's not a good sign. It's taken us nearly 4 years to recover from Ryan Perrilloux. The last thing we need is another attitude problem at QB.
