He said we ran 28 straight plays with the exact same personnel up tempo and he said it didn't allow for him to sub out defensive packages that they'd ordinarily do during the flow of a game. He's never seen any offense like this in his entire time in the SEC.
That's just plan smart of him.... I crack myself up I think this is a great use of the rules today to gain an advantage on the Defenses by getting them in the wrong personnel. A timeout or fake injury is the only tool Defenses have now to fix it, I would like to see the fake injury thing removed. Maybe a few defensive substitutions per half where the Defense can initiate substitutes. Under 2 minutes it would stop or not stop the clock, the team on offense can say. Would also reset the play clock or something. I would love to see a better tool than fake injury BS, I know every team does it and maybe that is the best tool for it, but it does seem to slow the game down way too much.
Cant guess with injuries but the real solution to faking is take out of 2 and then maybe 3 plays instead of just 1. They would use the fakes way more sparingly.
I was arguing with some UGA fans last week. I told them this virbatum: "LSU will force UGA to drop 7-8 in coverage" He told me they had 5 Devin White's at LB. I just said "LOL". UGA had good coverage. The doubled Chase often. I think if Marshall didn't have bricks for hands that night we prob break 50. Chase had a drop as well.
I wasn't happy with the points we left out on the field. First Marshall, then Chase on the long pass down the sideline in the endzone. Gotta catch both. That's 51 points.
Yes, this seems like a good penalty on faking. If you go out for injury you cannot be subbed back in for the series or a set of downs or 2 plays, something. Where that balance is I don't know. The offense gets a first down AND they substitute you can come back in might be good. I do think that there should be a penalty on the Offense somewhere too in this new style, like if you go 8 plays without substituting the Defense gets to substitute.
