I'm totally with you on that. Didn't think TH would make it through all these openings this year. I pray he falls in our lap next year! While Miles falls off a cliff.
Any time you change coaches it's a risk even if the guy is a proven winner somewhere else. In coaching, past success or failure are a very poor indication of what the guy will do at the next stop. The best you can do is pick a guy that has been at big time programs that have done multiple things well. You hope he has learned good systems, good recruiting and that you need to hire guys that work hard and are smarter than you in the areas where you are weak. Kirby is a smart pick (pun intended). He's seen how successful coaches and successful programs do it. Will he have success as a HC? No one knows, you can only speculate. Win or lose, it was the right move by Georgia if they want to compete for championships. You don't always get a championship coach on the first try, but you increase your chances by rolling the dice if you know the one you have isn't going to get it done.
And you have faith that the tards in charge at LSU will get it right this time? We'll probably end up with Mike Price.
It's ironic how some people are thinking he won't do well at Ga, yet those were the same people that wanted him to come here when they thought Miles was getting fired.
Not sure about same. Got no issue with Smart, but the fav knock is Saban puppet. After 8 yrs I find it highly unlikely.
We could have done worse, and I commend UGA for trying, but smart was a safe hire. Maybe he'll do good. Better hire than muskrat. Doesn't seem much better than Richt. Whoever got Memphis' coach, pretty bold hire relative to those two. Fisher would have been a good hire, but too conservative and expensive in my mind. Curious why the Houston guy is still at Houston? Too green? Does he have an oil contract like tcu dude?
