Hester seems to have an ounce of two of baby fat... if he gets with a professional trainer who forces him to stay on the right diet and slip up, he will drop to the 4.4 range and will have plenty of speed... I see him as a short yardage/change of pace back... Imagine him coming in for reggie bush and picking up a 3rd and 3 or a 3rd and 5 on the catch...

Actually, it says Tula, which is a previously-undiscovered abbreviation for Tulane.

I can't agree...4.4 is fast, but an NFL tailback needs more than just speed. Hester doesn't have the moves in the open field to make NFL DB's miss. Heck, he doesn't even try to make them miss in college, just runs them over. That's why you see him break a lot of carries in the 10-15 yard range, but rarely more than that. His runner's mentality, to coin a phrase, is that of a fullback rather than a tailback.

I agree with contained chaos, Hester is a tweener in the pros. I don't think he is fast enough to be a highly picked pro tailback, at least according to his 4.6 40 time listed on rivals. I am surprised Forte' is not listed ahead of him, but I guess the level of competition presents a question mark. I don't think he is capable of running a 4.4, or what ever the average tailback runs at the NFL combine, and that will drop his draft ranking. He is a great all around player, but the pro draft is weighted heavily on measurables like speed, bench, verticle jump, etc., even though it probably shouldn't be. Do you remember how Maurice Clarret's draft status plunged after he ran a 4.6 or 4.7 forty at the combine. I know he had baggage, but here is a guy who wanted to come out early and was slated to go in the 1st round if he did. I think he went to Denver in the 4th? round and then was cut. Hester is a great tiger and I hope he goes as high as possible and gets a ton of money. I will always pull for the guy.

He's a throwback player, one of guys you'd see back in the leather-helmet days. It's like they they took a good back from the old days and put him in a time machine and put him on the 2004-2007 LSU roster.

During one of the games recently (I think the SECCG), the commentators were remarking about how he probably should be wearing a leather helmet with his style of play.

It's funny that, with all of the 4 and 5 star guys that we have, Hester (a 2 star guy) would probably be the team MVP if a vote was taken.

Don't be surprised if Hester is used like a Larry Centers type of FB. If enough weight is put on, he'll be big enough to throw a block, but since he is very sure handed, he could get a lot of catches. I don't see him running a lot.

Remember, he is valuable on ST as well, and that's also enticing.

the average runningback in the NFL actually runs between a 4.5 and a 4.6... Hester has been reported to run a 4.5... Only the elite runners and the little scat-backs are below 4.5...

I heard Kiper say initially he had had listed Hester as the top rated FB because that was based on how he thought he projected to play in the NFL. However, this season he changed him to a RB because he felt that is where teams are going to use him. I hope he gets a shot at RB because I would love to see him play RB in the NFL.
