I love LSU football and I am on this website everyday so don't take this the wrong way you guys but I think we are in deep trouble with the QB situation. There is no way that Lee or Hatch are going to be able to lead us against UGA, Bama, Florida and Auburn. RP was a waste of oxygen but he could take on those teams and beat them. We still have a strong team but the quarterback is the focal point of it all and we are in trouble this year. I hope that I am wrong but I don't see some tranfer from Harvard and a kid who has not seen any playing time being able to handle those sitatuations.
I really don't think that anyone at this point wants to be brought down by this topic. This is a great weekend of Tigers Baseball. The last home SEC series at the Box. Lets all enjoy something upbeat and not be brought down by a topic that at this point no one can do anything about.
Its not like we run this complex style of offense that a quaterback has to think for himself. Pretty simple HANDOFF to the stable of running backs we have, THROW a PASS to the far superior wideouts that we have, and maybe pull the ball down and run for short yardage. I think a guy from Harvad should be able to handle this.
It's 3 1/2 months to kickoff. Have faith and believe in :milesmic: Like Crip said we don't need Elway running the offense although it would be nice.
So you are saying that you are depressed about our QB situation next year? How many others of you feel that way?
emry 123, in 2004 we had a redshirt freshman (J. Russell) and a mediocre at best senior (Randall) and we went 9-2 over the regular season. We dropped a one point game to Aub which took us out of the SEC west early, due to Aub. going undefeated. In 1986 we started a redshirt freshman (Hodson) and won the SEC. I aint ready to throw in the towel. Especially to all of the teams you say we can't beat.
According to LSUsports.net, Rivals.com, and LSUBeat.com, Jarrett Lee's football hero is John Elway. Just one thing I love about the kid. However, I am slightly disappointed that Jarrett Lee doesn't wear #7 at LSU.
I'm sure there will be some growing pains (see J.Russell) I fully expect them, but it doesn't mean we can't have a "damn strong football team!"
I know this is certainly debatable, but I am certain that if you gave me J. Russell's freak of nature body that I would be a better QB that he was. Sure, some of you might feel that's a bold claim, but I promise you there are other people that are actually good at sports themselves that agree with me (even if they are too shy to admit it here on a public internet discussion thread). As for Hatch and Lee, I judge them just like I judge Russell, could I do better than them given their physical attributes? I'm honestly thinking that I can't. But only time will tell...
OU last year & Texas the year before both did well with Freshmen starting at QB - both due to a superior OL & great players throughout the offense. LSU's offense is set-up for a QB to succeed. We just need a quarterback who will run the offense & not make mistakes. QB will not be one of our strengths next year, but it doesn't have to be for a good season. Will we be good enough to win the NC? Probably not, but we should still compete for the SEC Championship.
