I'm not straddling a fence. Look at it like a horse race for the West with LSU, Bama, and aTm the three favorite racehorses to win it all, but with the aTm and Bama horses being given a nice head start right out of the gate. Obviously, it's going to be very unlikely for the LSU horse to win, but it's still going to be a lot of fun to watch and see what happens
Agreed, this is actually my favorite spot to be in as an LSU fan. Somewhat of an underdog but enough talent to be excited about and really big games (home, neutral, and away) that could set up to be top tier tailgating atmospheres.
Big key to the season is the Offense driving the machine early. I think that improved istuational play calling, increased consistency, and a few wrinkles in the offense with the new OC, and having Stud on the sideline during the games with the OL will make a difference. Talent is there to put up 40+ a game. Defense will come around, but with them being long on talent and shorter on experience, they may take a while to find themselves this season.
Our punter and kicker were really good the past couple of years. Hopefully there is not a big drop off and could be another key for next year.
Very valid point. Wing in 2011 was a big game changer with his special teams. I always get nervous when a starter is a return man, for instance, ODB jr as punt returner. I hate to see a guy we rely on go down with a special teams injury. Any idea if one of the young speedsters, for example, Brazil, will be good enough to handle punts or KO's?
The last three SEC teams to put up 40 a game were led by three of the greatest dual threat QBs in the history of football (Manziel, Newton, Tebow), plus badass OLs, plus badass supporting skill players (WR Swope, RB Dyer, Percy Harvin, TE Aaron Hernandez, etc just to name a few) We don't have any of that except for badass supporting skill players at RB and potentially slot reciever
Under Les Miles (and Saban, for that matter), our best players play on special teams. Who have we lost this way?
