The passing game. Still. We'll be strong in every other aspect of team play. LSU has 38 d-lineman ready to step up. It's the least of our worries.
We need to identify our punt and kick returners. We must be strong on special teams. So far it doesn't appear that Mettenberger is going to be significantly better than last season, but hopefully the new offense will take advantage of what he brings. I like the idea of throwing more to running backs. Defense will be OK, but I don't expect it to gel for Game 1. How fast new guys pull it together is the key to defense.
How many receptions will each RB have next year? I have some thoughts regarding how many catches Hill, Hilliard, Blue, and Magee will have but not sure due to playing time and how each will be utilized.
It doesn't matter much. As long as those passes are in the playbook and get thrown, opponents defenses will be complicated. Slower linebackers will be mismatched. Safeties will be wary of double teaming wideouts. Nick's defenses were often vulnerable to a running back slipping late out of the backfield right over the middle.
Hopefully we throw more to the TEs, too. Even if we don't do it a lot - 2-3 receptions a game would be good. Enough where the other team has to actually plan for it. I wouldn't be surprised given that Antonio Gates emerged as a 1000+ yard receiver under Cameron.
Nicks defense was vulnerable to the quick slants and double moves. Milner the shut down corner got abused and we only had 1 caliber NFL receiver.
If defense is say 80% of what we had last year and offense improves just %20. We will be in the SECCG. If the offense can keep opposing defenses guessing, we will decinitely put some points on the board. Every team we've played only had to work on stopping 7-9 plays?
With our schedule, the SECCG is highly unlikely for us. We play @Bama, and we play the two favorites to represent the East in the SECCG during the regular season... SEC East opponents, 2013 LSU - @Georgia, Florida Bama - @Kentucky, Tennessee aTm - @Mizzou, Vandy
